They are a fully independent group, and exist beyond the pressures and interests of architectural practice, education, and media. They operate in a number of different capacities, from research to activism to quasi-political campaigning. FAF exists as a largely anonymous group due to the potential professional consequences of their work. They have collaborated with a number of influential organisations, from Sarah Wigglesworth Architects to the Architects Journal, to the Universities of Sheffield, Liverpool, and Birmingham. FAF was created and is run by Charlie Edmonds and Priti Mohandas, British designers and researchers. The pair met and began the work of FAF while conducting their Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Cambridge./media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="6" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="74"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:Br9nKVoNPKk/id> yt:videoId>Br9nKVoNPKk/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/yt:channelId> title>OKUMA: Preserving Purpose by Miguel de Rojas/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br9nKVoNPKk"/> author> name>Coventry University Architecture Society/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/uri> /author> published>2023-01-28T13:30:14+00:00/published> updated>2024-08-24T13:00:17+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>OKUMA: Preserving Purpose by Miguel de Rojas/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/Br9nKVoNPKk?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i3.ytimg.com/vi/Br9nKVoNPKk/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>Established in 2019 by three young architects (Gerardo PeregĂn, Miguel de Rojas and Marc AmigĂł), OKUMA Studio is a “nomadic” architectural and design practice which doesn’t have a fixed headquarters. They are committed to an architecture that does not separate spatial or formal approach from environmental, energetic or constructive strategies. Their practice could be seen as an exercise in connecting the context – the existing condition – with the possibility – the latent situations. Rigorous analysis, technical and material exploration, and a willingness to go beyond the requirements of each project are essential. The studio develops projects of different scales, budgets and typologies, working in the fields of architecture, urban design and landscape. They “excavate” and “rediscover” the history and culture that has been accumulated by the land and people that have disappeared and are about to be lost. The essence is “editing” and becoming part of the next culture that is spun not only in the past but also in the present. They are creating spaces and works with the aim of creating new values. Fumihiko Sano began his career as an apprentice - Sukiya carpenter at Nakamura Souji Komuten in Kyoto. After working at a design office, he created the Fumihiko Sano Studio. In 2016, he visited 16 countries around the world and carried out a project to create a tea room as a place of hospitality in each location. Aiming to create new value for the culture of various regions, he continues to carry out cross-disciplinary works in architecture, interior design, product design, and artwork. #architecture #architecturestudent #architecturesocial #architect #riba #ribawestmidlands #coventry #coventryuniversity #education #mastertalks #event #zoomevent #fumihikosano #fumihikosanostudio #tokyo #japan/media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="5" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="72"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:c51NRQxISXw/id> yt:videoId>c51NRQxISXw/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/yt:channelId> title>MVRDV: Vertical Cities by Gideon Maasland/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c51NRQxISXw"/> author> name>Coventry University Architecture Society/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/uri> /author> published>2022-10-07T19:42:43+00:00/published> updated>2024-08-21T11:48:22+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>MVRDV: Vertical Cities by Gideon Maasland/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/c51NRQxISXw?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i4.ytimg.com/vi/c51NRQxISXw/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>“I love to work on great buildings that make a difference to the people using them or living close to them. Prior to leading the Design Studio at HENN Berlin, he was leading the HENN Design studio in Beijing, China for 3 years.  Leander has developed specific experience in a wide range of building typologies including masterplans, offices, universities, laboratories, culture, production, commercial and research buildings Hosted by Hida Asad, Irina Temciuc and Alexander Swienton/media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="18" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="529"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:AZc1eyChxaw/id> yt:videoId>AZc1eyChxaw/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/yt:channelId> title>Ceramics and Architecture - Works of Roviras Castelao Arquitectura/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZc1eyChxaw"/> author> name>Coventry University Architecture Society/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtO56VkqsxFHHoDlU-EQ4w/uri> /author> published>2022-02-25T06:44:02+00:00/published> updated>2024-09-24T23:47:38+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>Ceramics and Architecture - Works of Roviras Castelao Arquitectura/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/AZc1eyChxaw?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i2.ytimg.com/vi/AZc1eyChxaw/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>Ceramics and Architecture: Roviras - Castelao Arquitectos is a modern practice based in Barcelona who focus on the health and wellbeing in design, and self-sufficient spaces. The use of ceramics in architecture is ancient and has been overshadowed by the new composite materials which are more versatile in comparison. Now ceramics is making a revival in the use of building facades to improve the buildings’ energy efficiency and as a finishing component on the outer shell. In this upcoming talk, we will be discussing the material in terms of functionality, aesthetic and sustainability.
