furii is a Japanese neologism derived from the phonetic adaptation of the English word free. With the same spirit of constant appropriation and reinterpretation of contexts to create new realities, furii studio works by dissolving the boundaries between practice and research, architecture and urbanism. Their projects explore questions around ecology and common resources, incorporating gender perspectives and revealing implicit latencies in diverse contexts to create new alternative realities through design.
Its founders, Noemí Gómez Lobo and Diego Martín Sánchez, are architects from the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) and PhDs from the Tokyo Institute of Technology at the Yoshiharu Tsukamoto Laboratory. They have been visiting professors at several Japanese universities and their practice has been awarded internationally in competitions such as Europan.
