Social activist Linda Baumann on Friday reminded the public that members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex community also have emotions. She said homophobia is a worrying trend in society. Baumann said this on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, which is observed on 17 May annually.

Transgender rights activist Deyonce Naris on Friday called on the public and government to treat the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI+) community with love and kindness. She said this in light of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, which is observed annually on 17 May. Naris said it is equally important that the government recognise that LGBTQI+ community members are human beings who deserve protection like everyone else.

He says Namibia cannot continue to oppress its people by restricting the movement of animals north of the redline due to the country exporting beef products to Europe. Forensic Architecture, a non-profit research agency, reported that it had identified sites of executions, forced labour, imprisonment, and sexual violence from the period when the island was used as a concentration camp by the German empire between 1905 and 1907.
To unpack this, we spoke to Sima Luipert, a fourth generation survivor of the Nama and Ovaherero genocide as well as adviser to the Nama Traditional Leaders Association.
But first we spoke to genocide reparations lobbyist and former parliamentarian, Usutuaihe Maamberua.

According to Uutoni, the practice of handing over accounts to external debt collectors diminishes the role of local authority employees tasked with debt collection, reducing them to mere "salary collectors".

NaCC spokesperson, Dina //Gowases, says !Gawaxab and others entered into a settlement agreement, following the commission’s investigation, which found that the parties have contravened the Competition Act of 2003, for implementing a merger, without the approval of the commission. Is this a mere storm in the tea cup, or something to write home about?

become a norm in the halls of academia, some of which are coming from
foreign nations.
Recently, political science lecturer, Dr. Job Amupanda, expressed
concern, about the pace at which ordinary Namibians are taking on the
title of Dr., without so much as having worked hard for it,
academically.
Yet the conferring of honorary Doctors is not a new thing, and has
been lauded as a progressive approach, to honouring those that would
have distinguished themselves, in non-academic fields.
With concerns rising that “anyone can be a Dr. these days” should the
system be continued or not, and what are the dangers of these
qualifications?

Now, the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters, has called on President
Mbumba to fire the governor, highlighting that he should have
resigned, after admitting to the white collar crime.

A Windhoek resident, Wentzel Maasdorp, appeared in court on Thursday in connection with the death of 40-year-old Delia Maasdorp, whose body was found in her flat in the city on Sunday. The accused, who was arrested on Tuesday, has been charged with counts of murder and theft. His case was postponed to 21 August, and he is to remain in custody in the meantime.

The workshop runs until 28 June at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) offices in Windhoek.
According to the association’s director, Linekela Paul Nanyeni, the workshop was necessitated by a shortage of sign language interpreters in Namibia.
