I've changed only the notation of the left hand, and added a repeat and an end, so you can enjoy it twice! The original notation left hand asks for a different fingering, so this one is easier to play, but the notes are the same as in the original score.

"Isle of Hope, Isle of Tearsâ is a typically Irish song composed by Brendan Graham. It is a moving tribute to the experience of Irish immigrants who left everything behind to come to America. It tells the story from Annie Moore from Ireland, who was the first immigrant to the United States to pass through federal immigrant inspection at the Ellis Island station in New York Harbor.

I've changed only the notation of the left hand, and added a repeat and an end, so you can enjoy it twice! The original notation left hand asks for a different fingering, so this one is easier to play, but the notes are the same as in the original score.

"Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears” is a typically Irish song composed by Brendan Graham. It is a moving tribute to the experience of Irish immigrants who left everything behind to come to America. It tells the story from Annie Moore from Ireland, who was the first immigrant to the United States to pass through federal immigrant inspection at the Ellis Island station in New York Harbor.

I always loved it , also the lyrics are very beautiful. It's difficult to translate this poem in another language for me, so I've added only the Dutch lyrics.
I've also added a small musical variation in the second part.

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 29.05.2023 · 08:23:05 ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· This beautiful piano solo arrangement by Frédéric Meinders is one of my favourite renditions of this piece. It is dedicated to Jacques de Tiège, one of the world's most inspiring piano teachers, who unfortunately passed away last year (March 2022).
Jacques gave me this piece in 1990 asking me if I would play it.
In honour of his memory and the many lessons he's taught me about the true essence and craftmanship of the art of playing piano, I decided to perform this piece.
There's a short documentary made by the Queen Elizabeth competition in Bruxelles which can be found on www.pianotunes.eu under the history page.
Among his pupils and pianists looking for this advice were a.o. Leif Ove Andsnes, Enrico Pace, Igor Roma, Yuja Wang and many others.
Frédéric Meinders is a great Dutch pianist, composer and arranger and has made numerous beautiful transcriptions for piano solo. You can find them on his website www.fredericmeinders.com.
29:: Vladimir Drozdoff - 'Dies Irae' from 'Au Tombeau de Rachmaninoff' ,Hetty Sponselee - piano
01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 28.05.2023 · 20:07:51 ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· 'Dies Irae' (the Day of Wrath), Larghetto doloroso, was composed by the Russian-American pianist composer, Vladimir Drozdoff (1882-1960) on the day Sergei Rachmaninoff died, on march 28, 1943.
It is the first piece of 'Au Tombeau de Rachmaninoff'.
The "Dies irae" has been used in the Roman Rite liturgy as the sequence for the Requiem Mass for centuries, as made evident by the important place it holds in musical settings such as those by Mozart and Verdi. The first melody set to these words, a Gregorian chant, is one of the most quoted in musical literature, and is appearing in the works of many composers, also the theme is used in many movies. This arrangement, which I made a while ago, is recorded in 'Het Cenakel" in Tilburg on a Steinway D.

The original orchestra score and Elgar's own piano score were starting point for this arrangement, but Hetty added more movement in the piano because of the difference between violin and piano (like length and crescendo of one tone, which is not possible in de piano).
