In 2019, Cambridgeshire Virtual School partnered with Antser to implement the VR technology to help deliver practical training to the team across the education sector. Working to improve educational outcomes for Cambridgeshireā€™s looked after and previously looked after children, the Virtual School were keen to particularly explore trauma and attachment training. In part one of this series, Jo discusses the importance of using a ā€˜trauma lensā€™ when working with vulnerable children and young people. She goes on to say: ā€œIt's important to draw on that body of research that explains that our trauma is lodged very much in our bodies and sensory system, which in turn regards the amygdala and overactive cortisol levels. These young people may be triggered by something not obvious to us - but we need to tend, regulate and relate to the child.ā€ Listen to part one to hear more about Cambridgeshire Virtual School and their journey with Antser VR so far./media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="0" average="0.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="76"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:Ceq3SGOHcs8/id> yt:videoId>Ceq3SGOHcs8/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCbNG_46rmmFInQaC-0JBMcQ/yt:channelId> title>Antser Talks with Cambridgeshire Virtual School - VR in Education Part 2/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ceq3SGOHcs8"/> author> name>Antser/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbNG_46rmmFInQaC-0JBMcQ/uri> /author> published>2022-12-07T13:17:31+00:00/published> updated>2024-05-28T08:28:48+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>Antser Talks with Cambridgeshire Virtual School - VR in Education Part 2/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/Ceq3SGOHcs8?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i4.ytimg.com/vi/Ceq3SGOHcs8/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>Following part one of our latest Antser Talks podcast with Cambridgeshire Virtual School, part two discusses the importance of adopting a therapeutic approach to ensure teachers are a consistent and reliable contact for vulnerable young people. In 2019, Cambridgeshire Virtual School partnered with Antser to implement the VR technology to help deliver practical training to the team across the education sector. Working to improve educational outcomes for Cambridgeshire’s looked after and previously looked after children, the Virtual School were keen to particularly explore trauma and attachment training. In part one of this series, Jo discusses the importance of using a ‘trauma lens’ when working with vulnerable children and young people. She goes on to say: “It's important to draw on that body of research that explains that our trauma is lodged very much in our bodies and sensory system, which in turn regards the amygdala and overactive cortisol levels. These young people may be triggered by something not obvious to us - but we need to tend, regulate and relate to the child.” Listen to part one to hear more about Cambridgeshire Virtual School and their journey with Antser VR so far.

··· ··· ··· ··· Following on from our recent Antser Talks recording, we are pleased to share with you Part 2 of our conversation with Dr Mica Douglas, Managing Director and Clinical Leader at Flourish Fostering, Nicola Tunbridge, Director of Flourish Fostering, and Abby Cooke, VR Service Manager at Antser, as they discuss how Antser VR is being used with practitioners, Foster Parents and young people at Flourish Fostering. Antser’s VR films allow individuals to walk in the footsteps of children and young people, helping them to better understand the root cause of difficult or disruptive behaviours, increasing empathy and insight. This allows practitioners and Foster Parents to modify their responses to de-escalate and manage the situation and improve relationships with children and young people in their care. Dr Mica Douglas tells us: “Nicola and I are used to doing ground-breaking training for Foster Parents, we’ve been doing it for about 14, 15 years, but this is a different kind of breakthrough training, because it breaks through into the heart of the potential Foster Parents.” Nicola Tunbridge shared her experience of using VR with experienced Foster Parents: “There I was, in a room of people that had a good knowledge of trauma, and just within the first seconds of the first VR film that they were watching, they were just amazed by it, and it brought something new to them. Almost all of them said, ‘If I had this training right at the beginning, I might have done some things differently,’ or, ‘I’d have understood this child or this situation differently.’ Listen to more insights from Mica and Nicola in Part 2 of our most recent Antser Talks recording below. 👇
