This collaboration resulted in a system that effectively manages both manual de-palletization of empty bottles and automated palletization of full bottles, showcasing the strength and efficiency of Alba's design. The project begins with the loading of full pallets of empty water cooler bottles, which are returned from the water cooler service industry. These pallets, stacked five levels high, are placed at the start of the Alba pallet conveyor and conveyed to the de-palletizing zone. In this zone, the bottles' necks are oriented towards the operator, who uses a foot-pedal-operated hydraulic scissor lift to adjust the pallet's elevation. This allows the operator to remove the bottles manually, starting from the top of the stack and working downwards. The scissor lift ensures that the operator can work ergonomically, reducing physical strain and increasing productivity. Challenges: The gravity conveyor sections needed to be at most, 10ā€¯ in elevation allowing operators (also bunnies) the ability to build full pallets at a comfortable ergonomic height. The stretch wrapper being fed by the packing line needed to match up with a more typical 18ā€¯ conveying height. In addition, the stretch wrapperā€™s location was off set from the packing lines due to space constraints. Solution: The lynchpin to the application was the use of a conveyor mounted to a low-profile lift table. This unit allows pallets at an inbound elevation as low as 7ā€¯ top of roller to be efficiently raised to up to 42ā€¯ top of roller. This is accomplished with Alba integrating a ZLS style Southworth lift table with the CDLR conveyor. The lift tableā€™s scissor leg mechanism is located outside the liftā€™s platform, thus saving elevation. Albaā€™s CDLR conveyor is integrated onto the liftā€™s platform by Alba. After being elevated, the pallets would convey 90-Deg on a pneumatic turntable with conveyor top to align with wrapping line. Resolution: Due to Albaā€™s stand-alone components the project was able to quickly be installed and commissioned in time for Easter. Every minute saved in the production process translates to increased productivity and ultimately, a competitive edge. When one of the leading auto parts manufacturers faced the challenging task of processing large volumes of bumper covers, they turned to Alba Manufacturing and their integration partner, Ingalls Conveyors, Inc., for a solution to streamline their operations. The result? An innovative palletizing line that dramatically transformed their manufacturing process. The challenge: processing a large volume of bumper covers efficiently with limited resources. The auto parts manufacturer required multiple processing stations but only had two de-stacker systems available. Handling the bumper-filled, heavy metal modules (90ā€¯ wide x 48ā€¯ long x 36ā€¯ high at 1,000 lb. each) was an ergonomic nightmare. Additionally, there was the complex task of rotating the cumbersome modules 90 degrees to ensure the order picker could access them in the correct orientation. It was clear that a conventional approach would not suffice. Alba Manufacturing, renowned for its expertise in material handling solutions, rose to the occasion. Collaborating closely with their integration partner, Ingalls Conveyors, Inc., they devised a unique system tailored to their manufacturerā€™s specific needs. The cornerstone of the solution was Alba's innovative metal module de-stackers, which efficiently distributed the modules to the various workstations using a series of chain transfers and through-frame/through-drive side transfers. This design allowed the manufacturer to maximize the utilization of their existing resources while maintaining optimal workflow. However, the true game-changer -- incorporating lift and rotate units, strategically positioned to change the orientation of the modules for ease of pickup in the conveyor system. These units enabled seamless module orientation, eliminating the ergonomic challenges associated with manual rotation. Previously, operators had struggled to maneuver the large, unwieldy half-ton modules on ball transfer tables, leading to inefficiencies and potential safety hazards. With the lift and rotate units, this cumbersome task was reduced to the simple push of a button, significantly enhancing operational efficiency, worker safety and satisfaction. Moreover, Alba Manufacturing's commitment to innovation was evident in the incorporation of value-added features such as the through-transfer, low-elevation, drive design and oversized lift and rotate units. These features not only enhanced the performance and versatility of the system but also underscored Alba's dedication to delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations. The benefits of the collaboration between Alba Manufacturing and Ingalls Conveyors, Inc. were profound. By leveraging their expertise and innovative technologies, they transformed the auto parts supplier's manufacturing process, enabling them to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry with newfound unparalleled efficiency and safety. The end user needed assistance in putting a new plant expansion online and needed to robotically depalletize cases from the lower tier while repalletizing on the upper tier for distribution. The systemā€™s process begins with full pallets being loaded onto the platform with integrated pop-up transfer strands. The reason for the customerā€™s offset loading platform was to minimize the likely hood to a full 2,500 lbs. pallet contacting the lift structure during the loading process. Once on the conveyor, the transfer would send the pallets down the zoned bottom tier where upon arival at the discharge end, a robot would remove items from the pallet and place them onto a pallet on the upper tier palletizing zone. Once the pallets were fully repalletized on the upper tier, they were conveyed via zoned CDLR conveyor to the end of the line. To simplify the project, for the integrator the equipment was provided with Albaā€™s Standard MZPA (motorized zero pressure accumulation) controls system. This included all necessary motor starters, power supply, and Allen Bradley processer for basic accumulation on the lower and upper tiers of conveyor. The addition of Albaā€™s plug and play controls option allowed easy installation and integration once the equipment arrived onsite. Because the equipment is setup and fully tested prior to shipping from Alba, our customer was able to see a full controls demonstration via video prior to arriving on the customerā€™s floor. E-Stop push buttons were provided and tied into an E-stop circuit at either end of the system allowing the entire system to be shut down quickly if an emergency arose. The end user in the custom door industry had specific requirements: the solution had to meet stringent speed standards, and it had to integrate seamlessly with an edge-bander. Moreover, there was a wide array of door sizes to consider, making the project even more complex. THE SOLUTION To make their vision a reality, 7robotics recognized the need for a robust and adaptable conveyor system that could handle the diverse range of doors, from single units to massive stacks, without causing any damage. They turned to Alba Manufacturing for help. Alba Manufacturing rose to the occasion and worked closely with 7robotics to design a tailor-made solution. The heart of this system was a series of Chain Driven Live Roller (CDLR) conveyors. What made these conveyors stand out was the 1/8" thick Kastalon coating on their tubes. This coating provided a cushioning layer that protected the doors from any potential damage as they were transported from one workstation to another. Additionally, Alba also supplied three CDLR conveyors without Kastalon to suit different requirements. The real game-changer in this solution was the frame-to-frame transfers provided by Alba. Two variants were supplied - one with seven v-belts and the other with three v-belts. These transfers ensured that the doors were not just transported efficiently but also aligned perfectly for integration with the edge-bander. To make life easier for 7robotics, Alba shipped all these components fully assembled. This standard Alba procedure expedited the setup of the robotic cell for testing, allowing 7robotics to focus on fine-tuning their innovative solution. THE RESULT In the end, 7robotics was able to deliver a turnkey automatic feeding and stacking system, in part, due to Alba's heavy-duty conveyor system. The solution could handle the significant weight of stacked doors, ensuring that operations ran efficiently and safely. The Kastalon-coated CDLR conveyors guaranteed that no doors were harmed in transit, even while accommodating the vast range of sizes. The frame-to-frame transfers were instrumental in aligning the doors precisely for integration with the edge-bander, making it possible to meet the customer's speed requirements. Together, Alba Manufacturing and 7robotics turned a challenging problem into a success story. The custom door industry has a new and innovative solution that can handle their diverse needs, and the end user has a complete, seamless, and efficient process for their operations. 1:: Streamlined Efficiency: The Ultimate Labor Saving Robotic & Pallet Handling Conveyor System

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 07.06.2024 · 13:32:39 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Automated Motion, a leader in robotic automation systems based in Belcamp, Maryland, partnered with Alba Manufacturing to develop a robust pallet conveyor solution for handling water cooler bottles. 2:: Elevating Pallets from an "Eggstra" Low Height in Time for Easter

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 03.04.2024 · 19:40:14 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Issue: Alba partnered with a well know chocolatier’s third-party logistics (3PL) firm (possibly the Easter Bunny) and engaged a challenging application involving transitioning pallets from a gravity roller conveyor at a low elevation, to a powered conveyor at a more traditional higher conveying elevation, turning a corner, and ultimately feeding a stretch wrapper. Challenges: The gravity conveyor sections needed to be at most, 10” in elevation allowing operators (also bunnies) the ability to build full pallets at a comfortable ergonomic height. The stretch wrapper being fed by the packing line needed to match up with a more typical 18” conveying height. In addition, the stretch wrapper’s location was off set from the packing lines due to space constraints. Solution: The lynchpin to the application was the use of a conveyor mounted to a low-profile lift table. This unit allows pallets at an inbound elevation as low as 7” top of roller to be efficiently raised to up to 42” top of roller. This is accomplished with Alba integrating a ZLS style Southworth lift table with the CDLR conveyor. The lift table’s scissor leg mechanism is located outside the lift’s platform, thus saving elevation. Alba’s CDLR conveyor is integrated onto the lift’s platform by Alba. After being elevated, the pallets would convey 90-Deg on a pneumatic turntable with conveyor top to align with wrapping line. Resolution: Due to Alba’s stand-alone components the project was able to quickly be installed and commissioned in time for Easter. To learn more visit www.AlbaMfg.com.

8:: Alba Manufacturing - The Half Ton Conundrum

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 29.02.2024 · 14:03:24 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· In the ever-evolving landscape of the auto parts industry, efficiency, and innovation reign supreme. Handling the bumper-filled, heavy metal modules (90” wide x 48” long x 36” high at 1,000 lb. each) was an ergonomic nightmare. Collaborating closely with their integration partner, Ingalls Conveyors, Inc., they devised a unique system tailored to their manufacturer’s specific needs. VALUE ADDED FEATURE(S) Through transfer low elevation drive design, and oversized lift and rotate unit Alba Manufacturing is your full-service conveyor manufacturer for all your pallet handling applications. 9:: Palletizing Applications Take Flight with Our Poly-Tier Conveyor System

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 30.12.2023 · 15:56:12 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This project is courtesy of one of our leading System Integrators helping a worldwide Aerospace company with their palletizing process. The end user needed assistance in putting a new plant expansion online and needed to robotically depalletize cases from the lower tier while repalletizing on the upper tier for distribution. The system’s process begins with full pallets being loaded onto the platform with integrated pop-up transfer strands. The reason for the customer’s offset loading platform was to minimize the likely hood to a full 2,500 lbs. pallet contacting the lift structure during the loading process. To simplify the project, for the integrator the equipment was provided with Alba’s Standard MZPA (motorized zero pressure accumulation) controls system. This included all necessary motor starters, power supply, and Allen Bradley processer for basic accumulation on the lower and upper tiers of conveyor. The addition of Alba’s plug and play controls option allowed easy installation and integration once the equipment arrived onsite. Because the equipment is setup and fully tested prior to shipping from Alba, our customer was able to see a full controls demonstration via video prior to arriving on the customer’s floor. E-Stop push buttons were provided and tied into an E-stop circuit at either end of the system allowing the entire system to be shut down quickly if an emergency arose. 11:: Alba Manufacturing & 7robotics - "The Doors" Solution

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 06.11.2023 · 16:09:47 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· THE CHALLENGE The challenge at hand was to create a turnkey solution for handling both single doors and stacks of wooden doors. In the heart of Roseburg, Oregon, the collaboration between 7robotics and Alba Manufacturing stands as a testament to the power of ingenuity, innovation, and a shared commitment to solving complex problems. 19:: Alba Manufacturing - Conveyor System - "Whisky" Business

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 08.08.2022 · 19:09:10 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Product: 200 oak, whiskey barrel heads on a 48-inch by 48-inch plastic flat bottom pallet weighing up to 2,000 lb. maximum. We worked closely with our system integrator, Automated Systems International (ASI) [http://www.asiius.com], who focuses on the whiskey barrel industry. Since ninety-five percent of all bourbon whiskey is produced in Kentucky, it’s a huge economic contributor to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The charred barrel heads were delivered from the head char process via an ASI supplied conveyor. ASI accumulated the heads on a zoned accumulation conveyor and loaded them onto plastic pallets using the Denso robot equipped with a custom end effector. As pallets were loaded, they were conveyed to another CDLR conveyor when full. The pallet dispenser dispensed another pallet to start the process over. Biggest Challenge & Solution: To design a system allowing maximum product flexibility in the event the end user’s head rounder or head char equipment didn’t operate properly. Alba provided a system that allowed the end user to both dispense and stack empty pallets with a single unit. Utilizing Alba’s standard center drive equipment, the cell operated in forward and reverse directions – saving costs by avoiding the need for a second unit and saving valuable floorspace.

··· ··· ··· ··· Simplimatic Automation, a long-time Alba partner, is a robotic integrator and serves various industries. In this case, the end user manufactures plastic containers to serve the food, and restaurant industry. The end user’s products were palletized via robot on 40” x 48” GMA pallets with a maximum weight of 2,000 lbs. Simplimatic streamlined their customer’s palletizing area by bringing twelve (12) production lines into four robotic palletizing cells. Alba’s portion of the project consisted of an intricate system of twenty-four (24) drag chain conveyors, two (2) pallet dispensers with full controls, and five (5) turntables (one with pneumatic base and four with motorized bases) with drag chain conveyor mounted on top. Additionally, Alba manufactured two (2) transfer cars to take the finished pallets from the palletizing cells to the stretch wrapper areas. Alba provided conveyor to enable the streamlining of the end user’s palletizing area which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, we made Simplimatic’s life easier by providing fully assembled conveyors (our standard). The end result? We decreased their installation time in the field by 50 percent. Our heavy-duty pallet handling conveyor integrates seamlessly with robotic and stretch wrap applications. 24:: Alba Manufacturing - Robotic GMA Palletizing Conveyor Solution

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 10.08.2021 · 15:34:35 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Just like the growing popularity with craft brews, the liquor industry is seeing an increased affinity for Flavored Malt Beverages (FMBs). So, what exactly are these tasty refreshments? FMBs are alcoholic beverages which by regulation must be made of 25 percent malt and 7.5 pounds of hops per 100 finished product barrels. Through processing, as much malt, flavor, and color as possible is removed (characteristics which are typical of beer) before different flavorings and colorings are added. The target market size of hard seltzer is estimated to be 172 million cases in the United States in 2021. In recent years, hard seltzer gained tremendous popularity in the United States. Either owing to its range of diverse flavors or due to its low-calorie content, American consumers have increasingly opted for hard seltzer as their choice of alcoholic beverage. Between 2018 and 2019 alone, on-premises sales of hard seltzer grew more than five-fold, from a mere $210 million dollars in 2018 to a figure exceeding $1 billion dollars a year later. Hard seltzer brands were the only flavored malt beverages to witness triple-digit growth in sales in the United States in 2020. Consumers aren’t the only beneficiaries of the increased demand. With the rapid rise in popularity for FMBs, manufacturers are developing new and faster ways to process, package and distribute this delicious elixir. Adaptec Solutions (adaptecsolutions.com) approached Alba to provide a pallet conveyance solution for a food and beverage distributor. This solution involved robotic palletization of cases of these beverages. The system needed to separate pallets and palletize four different beverage flavors. Alba worked with Adaptec to provide the pallet conveyor to convey stacks of empty pallets to be separated into single pallets and then conveyed to the palletizing robot. Once palletized, the conveyor moved full pallets to be picked up for shipping. The overall pallet conveyor and the Adaptec provided case conveyor helped to improve overall production rates, eliminated ergonomic concerns, and increased profitability for the distributor. The conveyor system ran at 16 pallets per hour cycle rate or 1 pallet every 4 minutes. PRODUCT: 40” x 48” GMA Pallets, 1,500 lbs. max (full) and 75-lbs. ··· ··· ··· ··· PRODUCT: 42” x 42” Wooden pallets with four (4) 3 ¾” bottom boards, ½” thick equally spaced, 4000 lbs. maximum weight APPLICATION: Manufacturing and inspection of Spooled Wire Innovative Conveyor Concepts Inc. in Grand Prairie Texas (http://www.iccconveyors.com/) worked with a local manufacturing company to provide pallet stretch wrap lines with Quality Control (QC) Inspection Stations and a rework line. Pallets are loaded via forklift on the infeed conveyor with pallet loading guides. Pallets travel down the CDLR conveyor to a pair of QC turntables that allow the operators to rotate the pallets 360 degrees and beyond for inspection. Once QC is complete, the turntable returns to the home position and discharges the pallet to either stretch wrapping or a rework line. Pallets are wrapped both vertically and horizontally and accumulate at the discharge end for fork lift removal. The CDLR conveyors and turntables are controlled with variable frequency drives with EtherNet/IP (IP=Industrial Protocol) to accommodate gentle handling prior to stretch wrapping. An intuitive user interface allows the operator greater flexibility for both automated manufacturing and distribution applications. Panel and controls supplied by Innovative Conveyor Concepts.
