TMC staff often use Intelligent Transportation Systems, such as closed-circuit television cameras, traffic speed data, communications from service patrols, and other tools to identify incidents; however, these methods can be inefficient. Most often, drivers involved in a traffic incident will place a call to 911 to get assistance. It was identified that if TMCs could get notified of these calls soon after they’re placed, they can find and process incidents faster. TxDOT, in conjunction with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, developed a system that gathers information from 911 systems and transmits this data to TMCs to allow for faster identification of incidents soon after they occur. Texas is known nationwide for its low bridge construction costs and trying to develop strategies for increased service life that can be incorporated during initial construction and are consistent with the “get in, get out, and stay out†mindset. The Texas Department of Transportation and the Center for Transportation Research developed ways to improve these efficiently constructed concrete bridge decks using steel fibers to extend the overall service life of a bridge deck. However, crucial metrics of the performance on jointed concrete pavements lacks reliability. MAP-21, the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act shifted toward a performance-based program and establishing national goals. This is continued by the FAST (Fixing America's Surface Transportation) Act. All states are required to invest in projects to achieve these objectives. The Texas Department of Transportation and the Center for Transportation Research developed tools to accurately collect faulting data information to comply with the nationwide standards. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first ferry in the Galveston Ferry system to be named after a woman and the first to be named after a Latina.   Esperanza "Hope" Andrade's indelible mark on Texas transportation is beyond compare. As the inaugural female chair of the Texas Transportation Commission and the historic first Latina Texas Secretary of State, Andrade's legacy resonates throughout our state's infrastructure landscape. The debut of the Esperanza "Hope" Andrade ferry heralds a new era characterized by efficiency, sustainability, and safety. 4:: Provision of Dispatch Data to Traffic Management Centers for Incident Detection, Tracking 5-9050-02

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 23.04.2024 · 21:34:21 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) monitor metro freeways for incidents that impact the flow of traffic, such as crashes and stalls. 5:: Utilizing Steel Fibers as Concrete Reinforcement in Bridge Decks 0-7001

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 23.04.2024 · 21:22:01 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· The effects of bridge deck deterioration can be extremely costly, and developing strategies that extend the useful life of bridge decks is more important than ever. Texas is known nationwide for its low bridge construction costs and trying to develop strategies for increased service life that can be incorporated during initial construction and are consistent with the “get in, get out, and stay out” mindset. The Texas Department of Transportation and the Center for Transportation Research developed ways to improve these efficiently constructed concrete bridge decks using steel fibers to extend the overall service life of a bridge deck. 9:: Measuring Faulting on Jointed Concrete Pavements 0-7060

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 16.04.2024 · 15:52:03 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· The Texas Department of Transportation relies on a contracted vendor for most of its required annual distress data.
