She's still on crutches, her injuries far from healed; nonetheless, she's decided to return to the island once more. So, the lieutenant waits in the storm. It gains such momentum that landing seems impossible. "They can't land the plane" thinks the lieutenant (from his point of view being a pilot as well), but they do land! However, they don't make it to the terminal. The plane is getting evacuated, and with great effort, the lieutenant manages to get Caro on board the Zetros! They forge ahead boldly, rewarded by sensational landscapes. The lushest green navigates through bizarre rock formations as Kathie and the Lieutenant perform the Yoga Warrior pose. Emerging from it strengthened and a little bit daring, the Lieutenant scales a rock formation. A stony ledge breaks loose, and the Lieutenant plummets into the deep - close call! Es stellte sich ausserdem heraus, dass die Batterieversorgung für die Kabine noch immer zu schwach ist, um die Nacht durchzustehen. Für laufende Standheizung und zusätzliche Nebenverbraucher, beispielsweise zum Aufladen sämtlicher Devices und Beleuchtung. Daher werden weitere Batterien requiriert und verbaut. Die Kulturkreise von Captain Mad und dem Leutnant hat das Kyffhäuserdenkmal zum nächsten Ziel. Es wird auch Barbarossadenkmal genannt. Das 81 Meter hohe Denkmal wurde 1892 bis 1896 zu Ehren von Kaiser Wilhelm I. errichtet und ist das drittgrösste Denkmal Deutschlands. Nahe dem Kyffhäuserdenkmal befindet sich ein Denkmal für den deutschen Reichspräsidenten Paul von Hindenburg. Ferner befindet sich am Denkmal der ‘Burghof Kyffhäuser’ als Gaststätte. Und den Brunnen gibts auch noch, es ist der tiefste Burgbrunnen der Welt, 176 Meter senkrecht nach unten in den Fels getrieben. Und das vor 1.000 Jahren! @mad

Hauptattraktion ist das Bild des Malers und Kunstprofessors Werner Tübke: Das Bauernkriegspanorama als monumentales Panoramabild über den Bauernkrieg mit dem Titel Frühbürgerliche Revolution in Deutschland. Das Werk entstand in den Jahren 1976 bis 1987 zum Gedenken an den Deutschen Bauernkrieg und den Bauernführer Thomas Müntzer. Mit einer Fläche von 1722 m² ist es das grösste Panorama-Gemälde der Welt! Die Leinwand ist 123 m lang und 14 m hoch, wog unbemalt 1,1 Tonnen und wurde in einem Stück gewebt im Textilkombinat Sursk in der Sowjetunion. Über 3000 einzelne Figuren bis zu 3 Meter Grösse sind abgebildet! Der MAN HX-60 rollt mittlerweile - wie der Zetros - auch auf Michelin-Reifen der Dimension 16.00 R20, und passt nicht durch die engen Gassen Bad Frankenhausens. Daher bleibt er geparkt und trotz Dauerregen observieren die Fellows die Altstadt, vor allem der schiefe Turm erscheint von Interesse. Immerhin schiefer als der Turm von Pisa, das will schon was heissen. Danach zünftiges Dinner, Food-Porn steht auf dem Besteckt, das ist ebenfalls verheissungvoll! @madundderleutnant

Bestes Licht zum Tagesanbruch, und schon wandern der Leutnant mit Kathie und Tom vom Black Beach auf den Hausberg ein paar hundert Höhenmeter, und auf der Westseite runter zum Reynisfjara Beach, wobei das Haupt Augenmerk auf der Observation der Puffins (Papageientaucher) liegt! Bemerkenswert wird die Reynisfjall Monolithen-Gruppe angesehen, die aus dem Atlantik ragt, danach Kaffee-Kultur in der Touri-Mall; dann geht es ins Gelände. 'Yoga at scenic-points' heisst das Motto, selbst der Leutnant macht mit, wobei für ihn nur die ‘Warrior-Figur’ infrage kommt, sonnenklar! @madundderleutnant

Und genau da übernachteten die Brüder, Captain Mad und der Leutnant. Genaugenommen im Hainich Nationalpark: Der Hainich ist ein ausgedehnter, bewaldeter Höhenrücken im Nordwesten Thüringens. Mit dem Nationalpark Hainich befindet sich im Süden des Höhenrückens nicht nur der bislang einzige Nationalpark Thüringens, sondern die grösste nutzungsfreie Waldfläche Deutschlands. Zentrale Bereiche des Nationalparks Hainich wurden von der UNESCO 2011 zum Weltnaturerbe erklärt. Nach dem Gourmet-Catering in einer lokalen Tankstelle montiert der Leutnant im Maschinenraum die Batterien um, welche er im Baumarkt um die Ecke erstanden hatte. Normale Autobatterien in Reihe geschaltet sollten den Job machen denkt der Leutnant! 140 Amperestunden immerhin! @madundderleutnant

The next destination is Hainich National Park with the Tree-Crown Path in the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany. The brothers will arrive there at sunset, although there is no sunset, at most a shift from gray to darkness. It will get cold and damp, just as one imagines it in the Eastern Zone. It's a bit like the Middle Ages here, says the Lieutenant! Nach wie vor ist die Sache mit der Stromversorgung für die Kabine unklar. Die Batteriespannung geht unter Last ‘in den Keller’, aber wo liegt der Fehler? Momentan ist die Kabine nicht zu heizen, und so kriecht die Kälte in die Knochen, eine unbehagliche Situation. Entsprechend schaut sich der Leutnant das zweite Batterie-Rack an im Maschinenraum des FM2 Shelters.. @madundderleutnant

Nach ‘Foxtrott’ müsste es ‘Golf’ heissen, das neue Team, aber der Leutnant übersprang den Buchstaben bei der Benennung, da er Golf verachtet. Und ‘H’ wie ‘Hotel’ passt ohnehin besser, denn der Truck ist ja eher wie eine Herberge im Nirgendwo. Und mit der nun allgegenwärtigen Yoga-Situation bietet sich ‘Yoga-Hotel’ an, als Themen-Park für die Tour im Zetros mit Kathie und Tom. Auch ein Cop. Allerdings Ex-Cop. Alles ist anders nun, auch für den Leutnant. Kaffee ist nicht nur Kaffee, sondern Kaffee mit Kardamom. Die Mahlzeiten werden regelmässig und noch gesünder, vor allem ayurveda vegan. Und es gibt jede Menge körperlicher Ertüchtigung, überall und zu jeder Zeit. Warum nicht, denkt der Leutnant, er fühlt sich ohnehin zu fett, das kann also alles nichts schaden, ist ohnehin ja nur für eine begrenzte Zeit. Aber die Stimmung bleibt hervorragend und noch immer gibt es viel zu entdecken und gemeinsam zu erleben. Bleiben sie dran und sehen sie selbst, wie der Leutnant den Truck bis zur Eisgrenze steuert. Und zwar im Bademantel und in Badeschlappen. Und genauso wird er Gletscher und Eishöhle erforschen! @madundderleutnant

They make it as far as Rockenberg, (Rocky Mountain), where New Year's is celebrated with the famous GoodCop, friends and family. This far they made it the brothers and linger into the night with plenty of Champagne, wine, and cheese fondue. Simultaneously, the heater in the FM2 Shelter of the MAN HX60 military truck fails. Consequently, the interior turns into a kind of stalactite cave due to condensation. Rain drips down on Captain Mad, and the Lieutenant, sleeping in the engine room, has to endure the cold. Not the best situation for his not yet fully recovered Covid infection. Outside, something resembling a civil war is unfolding – it's the local fireworks. People mean well this time, venting their frustration. That's the current state of affairs when the government falters; the people turn to pyrotechnics. As mentioned before, the night was short, cold, and damp, the air still fully saturated of gun smoke and the Lieutenant is trying to get to the bottom of things. After all, the continuation of the campaign is at stake. They worked on their sticker job, that seagull watched with zest, Annoying the Lieutenant, it observed the crew's request. With the truck all stickered up, and groceries neatly stored, They drove to Reykjavik, not a long distance to afford. A sensational sunset painted the sky with a fiery hue, Welcoming Team Foxtrot to Iceland, a breathtaking view. In the Reykjavik harbor, they spent the night so still, The next day brought rainbows, a city tour, a thrill. The Lieutenant led them to Perlan, up on the hill, Then it was off to Akranes, their hearts with wanderlust to fill. They explored the rocky coast, with bouldering so grand, And enjoyed a hearty dinner, a true men's feast firsthand. Jack Jack organized an 11-meter tournament of fame, With a ball from Olis station, the crew joined the game. Despite the Lieutenant's muscle pain from soccer's delight, He was back at it in the morning, to the crew's sheer delight. The Foxtrot Crew, father and sons, at the top they lay, At the edge of the glacier, where they spent their stay. The Lieutenant calls it the "compression of events." The comrades' CampSite, illuminated by the volcanic fire while baking bread after combusting the Viking settlement, truck maintenance, enjoying local products with cultural exchange, bathing in natural waters, and visiting buildings and monuments, are just a glimpse of the experiences and emotional impressions! The path now leads to the Base Camp at Mount Hekla, a Fifethousand-foot stratovolcano in southwestern Iceland. Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, with more than 20 eruptions occurring in and around the volcano since the year 1200. During the Middle Ages, the Icelandic Norse referred to the volcano as the "Gateway to Hell," and this idea spread throughout much of Europe. One of the largest eruptions in Iceland during the Holocene was the Hekla 3 (or H3) eruption around 1000 BC. It expelled about 7.3 cubic kilometers of volcanic rock into the atmosphere, ranking it as a Volcanic Explosivity Index VEI-5 - event. This would have led to cooler temperatures in the northern parts of the world for a few years afterward. Traces of this eruption have been found in Scottish peat bogs, and an analysis of tree rings from that time in Ireland indicates minimal tree ring growth for a decade! Wenige Minuten später jedoch trifft die Ablöse-Crew ein, am Keflavik International Airport, als Extra Team wird sie eingeschoben sozusagen, das hatte sich spontan so ergeben. Es ist Sascha ‘the Good Cop’ aus Rockenberg, ‘Rocky Mountain’ sagt der Leutnant dazu. So bilden ‘The Good Cop’ und der Leutnant die ‘Echo-Company’! Vom Flughafen aus geht die Fahrt zur Südküste nach Grindavik zur Übernachtung. Dabei ist die Rauchwolke deutlich zu sehen, beleuchtet von der Lava, die vom 15 Kilometer entfernten Vulkanausbruch am Berg Litli-Hrútur am Fagradallsfjall aufsteigt. Genau da, wo sich noch vor wenigen Stunden der Leutnant mit Robin befunden hatte! Am nächsten Etappenziel richtet sich die Echo-Company ein, um dort den Tag und die Nacht zu verbringen. Zunächst jedoch begräbt der Leutnant einen toten Seeleoparden mit genau der Schaufel, mit der die Kameraden der Deltaforce zuvor den Zetros ausgegraben hatten. Na gut, es ist nicht exakt die selbe Schaufel, denn diese brachten sie ja zurück in den Stall, zusammen mit einer Geschenktüte voller Schnapps.. Aber genau die gleiche Schaufel kaufte der Leutnant nach im ‘Bauhaus’ Baumarkt in Reykjavik. “Das ist eine gute Schaufel,” sagt ‘the Good Cop’! danach ist Gin o’Clock! @mad

Er wurde von 1965 bis 1972 produziert und gehört zur Prinz-Baureihe von NSU. Hier sind einige wichtige Merkmale und Informationen zum NSU Prinz TT: Karosserie: Der Prinz TT war als kompakter Sportwagen konzipiert und hatte ein zweitüriges Coupé-Design. Die Karosserie war aerodynamisch gestaltet und hatte einige sportliche Elemente. Motor: Unter der Haube des Prinz TT befand sich ein luftgekühlter Zweizylinder-Motor mit 1,2 Litern Hubraum. Dabei finden sie die zweite Douglas DC3 als Wrack auf Island, beziehungsweise die Militärversion C-47 Dakota. Die bekanntere liegt ja am Südrand der Insel, touristisch maximal ausgeschlachtet, da will niemand mehr hin! Diese hier ist ausserdem in wesentlich besserem Zustand, die könnte man wieder hinkriegen, denkt der Leutnant. Als Pilot tut es weh, ein schönes Flugzeug in diesem Zustand zu sehen! Und dann: ein zweiter Zetros! Das ist ein ebenso seltener Anblick! Nach dem ganzen Vogelgeschrei suchen sich die Kameraden einen netten Strand zum Übernachten ganz in der Nähe. Da sind sie nicht die einzigen! Aber der Platz ist grosszügig ausgelegt, man geht sich nicht auf die Nerven - dafür entdecken sie eine besondere Art Miniatur-Geysir. Faszinierend!

Eine verdriessliche Situation, denkt der Leutnant, wenn das Schiff gleich zu Beginn der Expedition Leck schlägt. Dennoch setzt Team Alpha One die Reise fort, entlang der Ringstrasse Richtung Vik an der Südspitze der Insel, mit Abstechern zu Gletscher Lagunen am südlichen Rand des Vatnajökulls. Killbill dokumentiert das jeweilige Ereignis mit seiner Leica, dazu entsprechende Eintragungen ins Expeditions-Logbuch. Im weiteren Verlauf der Reise klart es wieder auf, das Regengebiet ist unterfahren sozusagen und sonnige Stunden erwarten die Kameraden. Ein scharfer Wind liegt an allerdings, nichts ungewöhnliches für Island..

Ein paar hundert Kilometer Waschbrettpiste sind zu bewältigen dabei, ein zermürbendes Unterfangen. Der Weg führt schliesslich nach Höfn, dem bekannten Hummerfanggebiet im Südosten der Insel. Zuvor jedoch erforschen die Kameraden den Lagarfljót, in dem sich ein Seemonster befindet, ähnlich dem von Loch Ness. Allerdings hält es sich bedeckt, anscheinend hat es gehörig Regatt vor den Kameraden. Vielleicht besser so. Schlussendlich werden Killbill und der Leutnant belohnt mit der besten Hummersuppe der Welt. Das ist bekannt seit 2013, in dem Jahr besuchte das Team ebendieses Restaurant im Hafen von Höfn auf Island. Allzeit empfehlenswert, es hat sich nichts verändert. @madundderleutnant

Vor Ort angekommen wird es darum gehen, passendes Werkzeug zu besorgen, um die Probleme mit der Wasserversorgung in der Truck-Kabine zu erforschen. Und idealerweise zu beheben. Team Alpha 1, bestehend aus Killbill und dem Leutnant, kehrt zurück zur Truck-Basis; die erste Highland Expedition ist abgeschlossen: Die Erforschung und Kartographierung einer bis dato unbekannten Wasserfall-Kaskade. An einem sonnigen Sonntag im Frühling begibt sich die Crew mit den Kids nach aufreibender Wald-Wanderung zu Ernst in der Waldesruh, es gibt Schnitzel und Hirschgulasch, oder auch Schnaps, Röhndiesel beispielsweise, je nach Vorliebe.. Danach sind die jugendlichen kaputt und müssen evakuiert werden, Captain MAD übernimmt diese Aufgabe mit dem Medevac, die übrige Crew wandert zurück. Um kurz danach aufzubrechen, der Bad Cop verlässt das Camp am Sinner Mountain - die Ukraine-Pfütze schafft er nicht auf Anhieb, beim zweiten Versuch klappt es, nachdem er beim Zurücksetzen noch den Zaun zu einer Schonung niederriss..
