Knorr-Bremse AG Trailblazing technology: Whether reproducing tropical heat, arctic cold or rainy autumn weather, our ATLAS test rig can simulate how trains’ braking systems perform in a range of real-world conditions.
Located at our Munich headquarters, the facility enables our experts to map a spectrum of wheel-track situations involving freight, metro and high-speed trains operating at speeds of up to 350 km/h with axle loads of up to 30 tons.
Also in the area of freight transport, for example, ATLAS allows us to test friction materials and thereby further optimize their noise emissions. And in driving simulations, ATLAS enables us to evaluate wheel-friendly braking strategies on downhill routes.
