As you read Psalm 25, you will notice there are a number of different themes. On the one hand, David is praying for deliverance from his trouble and distress. He’s also asking for forgiveness and pardon for his sins. But a dominant theme in the psalm is the request for guidance, as he asks the Lord to show him his ways and to lead him in his paths and teach him the truth. Pastor John Collier takes that theme of guidance and uses is as the lens through which to read this psalm, and then some of the other themes come in as well. There are five directions or instructions that Psalm 25 gives us in thinking about how God guides us as his children.
