In this Bible study, “These Words Are Written,” we are studying the story of the Bible from the Bible itself. The Bible has a lot to say about when, why, and how it was written. Starting in the Old Testament and continuing through the New Testament, we will study what the Bible says about itself. As we do, we’ll be encouraged by the truthfulness and faithfulness of God’s Word and grow in our faith in Jesus as our Savior, because “these words are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).
In this tenth lesson, we started studying the Gospels of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We read what the Bible has to say about Matthew and John Mark—the writers of Matthew and Mark—and marveled at how God has a habit of using unexpected people to carry out his work.
