Which is more life-giving to my children; to keep telling them all their lives they should be more like me, or to keep telling them from the day they are born, that they are like me?
Which is more life-giving to a believer/Christian; to keep telling them all their lives that they should be more like God, or to keep telling them that they are born of the Spirit of God, that they are like God, for the same spirit that rose Christ from the dead now lives in them!
Jesus was so rooted and grounded in His identity, His life as the beloved Son of God, that He didn’t feel the need to do anything to grasp that life. That’s why the temptations of the world and the devil had no power over Him, for when you know who you are, you don’t need this world or your performance in it, to tell you who you are.
