Dungeness Trails is one of our favorite parks in Sequim to hike with Skye, our 23-month-old Norwegian Elkhound. Here, nature trails traverse for miles through open fields, woods, and along the bluffs and beaches of the Dungeness River. These trails pass through diverse ecosystems that are constantly changing with the seasons – grassy prairies, new and old confer and deciduous tree forests, beautiful, aromatic wildflowers, and a variety of edible berries. Skye goes crazy with excitement as she runs, hunts, digs, greets people and dogs, chases squirrels, climbs steep banks, then cools off in the Dungeness River and the irrigation canal, quenching her thirst with the pure glacier waters from the Olympic mountains. This is a perfect adventure playground for Skye, and a magnificent place to connect with nature for her owners!
