In the 80s when the movie began appearing on television reruns both became more popular. During the weeks following Gene Wilder's death in 2016 the song rose in streams and sales by more than 100%. In 2016 an instrumental version was featured in the Marvel studios film Thor: Ragnarok. Pentatonix sang the song as a mashup with Christmas Time Is Here for their 2023 compilation album The Greatest Christmas Hits.
