GemsOnVHS There aren't many folks I want to hop in the van with now a days. I spent a lot of time in them, rolling around the country, touring the gas stations of this great nation. Jeremie Albino called though, and when I found out it was him and Benjamin Dakota Rogers van, on a west coast tour with Sierra Ferrell.. well, I jumped in the van. From San Fransisco to Portland, to Boise, Idaho up to Seattle, then all the way into Canada for a Vancouver date. I'd never been to half of them towns, and I had good music to go along every mile of the way.
Knowing us, we had to pull off the side of the road a few times, take in the beauty of the nature surrounding us, and play a tune. Jeremie played this one high up in the Sierras, where all of a sudden visibility dropped to a few feet and snow appeared out of nowhere. It had been damn near 70 degrees just an hour before, so we all had to get out and laugh a bit at our sudden change in weather.
Jeremie's new album is a banger. Watching him open for Sierra, I found myself in awe of his ability to just stand up there and rock an entire crowd by himself. He has so much spirit, such a work ethic. Reminds me of Charley Crockett in that way. Never once did I see him falter, even when our hotel rooms were sold out, or when it was 3am and we still had to move instrument cases down from the third floor of some venue. He is a trooper.
