After yet another break, I have decided to upload another video. I decided to give a shot at performing Richard Elliot's improvisation on the hymn tune FIDELITY. This tune is used for the LDS text for How Firm a Foundation. While I'm not a Mormon myself, I very much enjoy this lovely hymn tune. Since it fits with the traditional text of the hymn, it could be used in other churches as well. This arrangement is incredibly difficult and very taxing to play (thankfully its only 3ish minutes). It begins with soft, rhythmic setting of the melody that brings to mind a trumpet call in the distance. As it continues, it grows in intensity and volume for verse two. We then enter a pseudo Toccata section which is not only faster, but much more difficult as well. Elliott states the melody again and, after a glorious key change, restates the theme one final time, which perfectly showcases the solo reeds of my newest sample set, before reaching the triumphant final chord.
