This is the 32 collage in a series with a botanical theme. I will be using different techniques such as gelli printing and stitching. All papers are my own prints. How many I will make, I don’t know yet.
I have been experimenting using charcoal, pan pastels and soft pastels directly on my gelli plate. Specially the soft pastels resulted in discoloration of my gelli plate, not that the plate doesn’t work as it should, but I am tiered of looking at a blue splat which can’t get of the plate and trust me I have tried everything.
So why not try it the other way around. So I draw on ordinary copy paper with willow charcoal and and transferred the drawing to the gelli plate and lifted the drawing of the plate with acrylic paint. This way left no discoloration on my plate. I think you get the best results with translucent paint. Last I added some fabric and stitches with black mercerized cotton thread.
