“Bible Translation”: Bible Study #3—Changing Language, Unchanging Truth

When it comes to the Bible, people have lots of good questions: ““Why are there so many translations of the Bible? What does it take to translate the Bible into English? Which Bible translation is really God’s Word? Can we be sure that the Bible we have is really the Word of God?” Have you ever asked one of those questions? In this Bible study, we’re studying all sorts of questions about God’s Word and how it is translated for us today.
In this third lesson, we discussed how language changes over time. No language, including English, stays the same. This is one of the reasons why it’s a blessing to have new Bible translations. There is always a need for God’s Word to be translated into the language of today. As that happens, however, translators need to be careful not to change the message of the Scriptures to fit what society wants. Language changes, but God’s truth doesn’t change.
