The Ascension of Jesus in the New Testament and in ancient Christian creeds presumes movement of Jesus from earth "up" to heaven. This language is problematic today; however, it doesn't mean the Ascension can't provide meaning in our lives of faith. One way to read the story is to see it as an example of God putting faith in us to carry on the work of Jesus.
