The original Vienna Octet stopped recording in 1972, and was immediately replaced by a new group of younger players. Here they are, doing most of the same stuff, just as beautifully, along with the Vienna Winds, Horns, Flute Trio, and a few other groupings, beautifully annotated and packaged by Decca Eloquence (Australia). The music for wind ensemble is especially valuable, including works by Mozart, Schoenberg, Ligeti and quite a few unexpected others.
