Psalm 102:6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
Both the pelican and the owl are considered as unclean. By saying he is like them, the psalmist is expressing, like many of us do at times, how he feels standing before God... dirty, unclean, unworthy, undeserving, insignificant, a filthy sinner.
We may not like the feeling described but consider that sin is often (if not always) the cause of us feeling that way. And consider also, that this is the sorrow of heart that leads us to repent.
Until we see our uncleanness, we cannot fully appreciate what it took to reconcil us. It's easy to say God showed us mercy through the blood of Christ but consider, justice for YOUR sins was also achieved in the blood of the cross.
Though that blood allows us to come before him with boldness, there was a price paid. Jesus died to achieve this. 🙇🏾♂️🙏🏾
