Advent 2 - and the voice of the prophets who point to Jesus - so why are we reading about John the Baptist? Wasn't he part of the New Testament? Aren't we reading Mark's gospel? Yes we are and no he wasn't. John the B was in the line of prophets under the old covenant - yet he seems to anticipate the new with his message of forgiveness on the basis of repentance and confession symbolised by baptism. Or was the message of a relationship with God always on the basis of faith? Wasn't Abraham before Moses? Why did so many people flock to the river where John was? What was it about the religious system that wasn't satisfying to the soul and helping them make peace with God? Gosh - so many questions. You'll have to watch the video to see if any of them are answered! There's a generally upbeat mood to this video. After all confession and forgiveness are good news aren't they? Just another question...
