Have you ever been given an assignment, but you didn’t know how to complete it? In the television show The Office, there is an episode where the manager asks one of his salesmen for a rundown of his clients. Instead of asking what he means by a rundown, the salesman spends the episode asking others in the office what it might be, and being confused overall about what a rundown is. The manager assumes the salesman knows what he wants, but the salesman doesn’t know and won’t ask.
I mentioned this last week, but I want to get into it today. Pastors and churches spend a lot of time talking about how we believe in the gospel. We are called to share the gospel. There is life in the gospel. We talk about the good news of the gospel. In fact, we talk a lot about the gospel, but we don’t talk much about what we mean by the gospel.
