Rinu's Englishpedia A tale of love of horses which forces two young Garoghlanian boys to go against the norms of their tribe and steal a horse. They manage to satisfy their desire but cause great harm to the owner of the horse -John Byro. John Byro is a gentle farmer who respects the members of the Garoghlanian tribe and is aware of their centuries old good will and hallmarks of honesty and integrity. He is mature enough to understand that the boys had stolen the horse but realises that accusing them will destroy the fame of the tribe and therefore gives them a chance to make amends. The boys' conscience is woken and they return the horse.
Underlying themes of this chapter are racial discrimination and love for animals
