MAYHEM is a Norwegian Black Metal band formed in Langhus in 1984.
They were one of the founders of the Norwegian black metal scene and their music has strongly influenced the black metal genre.
MAYHEM's early career was highly controversial, primarily due to their notorious live performances, the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin ("Dead") and the 1993 murder of guitarist Øystein Aarseth ("Euronymous") by former member Varg Vikernes ("Count Grishnackh") of BURZUM.
ZYKLON-B was a Norwegian black metal supergroup founded in 1995.
The band's members were Tomas "Samoth" Haugen (guitar and bass) and Vegard "Ihsahn" Tveitan (keyboard) from EMPEROR, Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad (drums) from SATYRICON and Björn "Aldrahn" Gjerde (vocals) from DØDHEIMSGARD.
Their lyrics dealt mainly with death, apocalypse and warfare.
The band recorded only one E.P.
Other versions of the featured songs were featured on split releases with MAYHEM and SWORDMASTER.
The name refers to Zyklon B, a gas used in gas chambers during the Holocaust.
Despite the name the band states that "Zyklon-B is not related to any political or racial preference".
