Joshua and Jason take you through the tasting notes (also listed below) on the latest Single Cask Nation "Stones of Stenness" 16yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky from a PX hogshead.
Tasting notes are as follows:
Color: Burnt ochre
Nose: Sweet grain and damp hay lead the way with an extinguished campfire offering up the first round of smoky notes. Onion flavored corn snacks (Funyuns), balsamic reduction, lemon zest on brisket lead the second wave with a delicate hint of spent match and chipotle peppers providing the smoky notes this time around.
Palate: Rich and unctuous on entry with dark chocolate covered raisins and fresh pipe tobacco notes before ripe Honeydew melon and smoked red fruits take charge of the experience. Subsequent sips reveal linseed oil treated leather and HoneyNut Cheerios.
Finish: Decent length with a pleasing drying quality. Notes of black tea, cracked peppercorns, Dutch process cocoa powder, and lingering smoked red fruits close out the experience.
