#Gamescom2023: Can AI be Creative? (English)

Within the past 12 months, AI has rocked commercial and creative landscapes, interjecting both optimism and uncertainty. While some tout AI as a path to innovation and prosperity, many creatives (including those in the games industry) perceive it as an existential threat. This talk uses the nature of creativity as a lens to analyze AI's impacts on and possibilities for games. Ultimately, the presentation proposes ethical, pragmatic, and collaborative guidelines for games and our creative future.

Sarah Brin is a futurist and digital creativity specialist. She works as the Head of Product and Growth at Kythera AI, a company specializing in AI middleware for game development. Sarah specializes in interdisciplinary tech collaborations, and has directed programs for organizations including Sony Interactive Entertainment, Autodesk, George RR Martin's immersive technology company Meow Wolf, the European Union, SFMOMA, and others. Her research interests include new economic models for creatives, humanist applications of technology, and playful interventions.
