This 4yo rye bottling is comprised of two re-charred ex-American Oak barrels (cask #'s 16 & 23) that each held 3yo rye whisky which were then married together into Cask # 14 (a re-charred ex-French Oak Shiraz cask which held the contents of their first collaborative bottling with Backwoods!) for an additional year of maturation which resulted in the following (ridiculously) delicious tasting notes:
Color: Burnt orange
Nose: Balsa wood, dehydrated apple rings, and a freshly opened pack of unfiltered cigarettes but with rich sweetness in the form of chocolate covered Shredded Wheat and hints of Cherry Lips and Strawberry Starburst
Palate: Wonderful mouthcoating texture with abundant notes: walnut skins, chocolate dipped cherries dusted in cocoa powder, fresh wood shavings, vibrant rye spice, Biscoff cookies, and Whoppers – quite earthy and a touch herbaceous
Finish: Moderate to long with lingering rye spice, more wood shavings, drying cocoa, black licorice and then, on the very end, a bright citrus flourish
