BEHEMOTH is a Polish Black Metal band formed in 1991 in Gdańsk, Pomerania.
They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground.
Until the late 1990s, the band played a traditional black metal style with heathen lyrical content, but soon changed to that of occult and thelemic themes written by their lead vocalist Adam Darski and Krzysztof Azarewicz.
Adam Darski (Holocausto) and Adam Muraszko (Sodomizer) initially called the band BAPHOMET, but quickly changed the name to BEHEMOTH due to there being too many other bands with that name at that time.
GROM (Polish for "THUNDER") is their second full-length album.
It was recorded and mixed from December 1995 to January 1996 and was originally released in January 1996 through Solistitium Records.
The album is BEHEMOTH's last release before their shift into a death metal sound.
