Mark 4:35-41 One of many favourite stories, this. It's a simple message: God brings order out of chaos. However, there are consequences built in to all socities, institutions and cultures that sideline and rubbish God. Then he engineers confusion which acts as a pride-buster and disciplines in order that order might be restored. It's a prompt to exercise faith instead of fear - having turned it all over to Jesus. The 'calm' is within him not in the circumstances. I give some 'faith indicators: a) Where do I turn when stuff happens? b) Jesus is a powerful presence in the midst of chaos and can bring order as the creator of the universe. Does this truth abate fear and promote trust for me? c) Would I trust this man? Yes, I would. Do I trust this man? Yes, I do. Am I trusting this man right now??? Are you?
