GBH News MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng stepped onto the job just over a year ago, taking the helm of a transit system that was plagued by widespread slowdowns and under federal scrutiny over a string of safety incidents. Eng, the former head of the Long Island Rail Road, has been optimistic about the T's future, and advocates and government officials alike have cheered both the progress he's made and the transparency he's brought to the role.
To break down what's been different so far under Eng's tenure and what else the T still needs, Katie Lannan is joined on Talking Politics by TransitMatters executive director Jarred Johnson and GBH News transportation reporter Bob Seay, who both recently sat down with Eng for a discussion on rebuilding trust with the T.
