When the New Testament gospel writers narrate the baptism of Jesus, they seem to struggle with the question of Why Jesus would need to be baptized. This week we look at this question with fresh eyes. Perhaps the struggle was over baptism as a symbolic reminder of grace. Why would Jesus need such a reminder? Mark's version of the story answers the question by highlighting the extraordinary things that happened when Jesus was baptized.
