Joshua and Jason take you through the tasting notes (also listed below) on the latest Single Cask Nation Westland 9yo Sauternes cask matured American Single Malt whisky, part of their June 6, 2024 online releases.
Single Cask Nation has been releasing whiskies in collaboration with Westland Distillery since 2014. This release highlights the 2nd time Joshua and Jason welcomed 25 dedicated Nation members to the distillery to help select this banger of a whisky.
Launching on Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at 12pm EDT and bottled at 52.3% ABV, this single cask of Westland 9yo Sauternes cask matured American Single Malt whisky, yielded just 176 bottles and will sell for only $125 on singlecasknation.com -- notes are as follows:
Color: Red brass
Nose: Opens on rich red fruits and warm, welcoming grain, the warm hug continues with warm apricot jam, and warm Hostess™ pie crust, crushed lingonberries, pecan pie, walnut skins, shaved dark chocolate, hints of vanilla extract and, separately, a struck match in a distant room
Palate: Classic Westland five-malt heft leads the way with cinnamon sticks and Mexican dark chocolate close behind, shaved almonds appear mid-palate before dehydrated apricots and gray pepper notes build as it transitions towards the finish
Finish: Moderate to long with lingering dark chocolate notes but note the soft oak spice, rich grain, and gentle, sweet earthiness
