In fact , it was a world-wide smash hit, topping the charts in Great Britain, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium and Norway! Robin Gibb said of this song that it is not literally talking about people going back to Massachusetts but represents all the people who want to go back to somewhere or something. It's about people who want to escape.
