Recorded at London's landmark Air studios and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the RSVP Voices choir, and produced by Cliff Masterson, it is a genuine modern classic. Three vocal pieces are included on the album: Daybreak (Mario Frangoulis), Christmas Day (Isabel Suckling), and most notably Don't Cry Alone which features an emotionally evocative lead vocal by Robin Gibb, who remains one of music's most distinctive voices. In fact , it was a world-wide smash hit, topping the charts in Great Britain, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium and Norway! Robin Gibb said of this song that it is not literally talking about people going back to Massachusetts but represents all the people who want to go back to somewhere or something. It's about people who want to escape.

It did however gain exposure to a wider audience when Robin recorded this fine version of the song with Alistair Griffin, the runner-up in the British television talent show "Fame Academy", and it reached #5 in the UK charts in January 2004

"Please", although written as a love song, was particularly poignant as its release unavoidably coincided with the passing of Robin's twin brother, Maurice.
