Mother Comes To Son's Defense After Arrest In Connection To Deadly SW OKC Gunfight

Six people are behind bars, accused in a planned shootout that killed a metro high school student in early June. Oklahoma City police said the gunfight stemmed from a dispute on social media.

The mother of the youngest suspect, only 14 years old, has come to her son’s defense. The mother said on Friday her son has never been in trouble, but this week the U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested the teenager and searched his bedroom. The mother said law officers did not find anything.

The mother of the accused teenager does not want to show her identity but wants her voice heard. “He doesn’t come from a broken home,” said Donna, the suspect’s mother. “He’s not a bad kid.”

Her 14-year-old son now sits in custody at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center. She said her son was not at the southwest Oklahoma City home where a gunfight turned deadly killing 17-year-old Gjmon Davis earlier this month.

“I do have proof of it yes, there’s numerous witnesses saying he was not there,” said Donna. “As for him being in a group chat, yeah, but him being there and doing that, no.”

The group chat on Instagram escalated into an argument between two groups. Police said one of the posters gave the group an address where they could "fight or shoot it out."

Arrest warrants stated the 14-year-old and 19-year-old Shicobion Goosby had guns at the scene and the younger teen fired his weapon.

“He didn’t point no gun,” said Donna. “Like he doesn’t even have a gun at all.”

Police arrested six people this week in connection to the shootout that killed Davis, including the victim's younger brother. Police said 21-year-old Keamarion Harris drove the victim and five others to the home where the shooting happened. Harris then drove the victim to a local hospital where he died. They all face first-degree murder charges.

“I don’t want my baby to get lost in the system for no reason,” said Donna. “He’s a good kid.”

Police said the car Harris drove to and from the scene was stolen. He faces an additional charge for the stolen car.

Three of the suspects are in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center and the other three are at the juvenile detention center. None of them have been formally charged by the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office.
