··· ··· ··· ··· After 400 + days of seizure freedom following her right hemispherectomy Cora suddenly started experiencing alarming auras. She describes them as being the same as before surgery; she becomes extremely fearful and fights back tears, gets hot & refuses to stand due to her anxiety of falling. Cora is normally very lively in the car and is constantly playing & changing music on her phone or the car stereo. She is lethargic & completely unresponsive until 00:23 when she starts moving again. I haven't seen anything like this since before her surgery

5:: Hemiplegia post op Right Hemispherectomy

··· ··· ··· ··· Cora had a Right Hemispherectomy on Jan 15, 2019 in an effort to stop tonic clonic seizures, intractable Epilepsy secondary to Cortical Dysplasia. Her expected deficit was loss of use of her left hand, vision loss on the left and weakened gate. Instead she is paralyzed on the left side, hemiplegia. She is learning to walk with a walker but can't do it unassisted. She's been unable to move or use her left arm since surgery until last night. This is the 1st time she's been able to engage those muscles and use them. It was very exciting and gave us renewed hope. First arm movement p/o Hemispherectomy

About a 2 minute walk to the beach on a sand path. There is handicap parking but a regular wheelchair or transport chair won't do well on this path.
