I also quite enjoy how cool the Molus B200 COB light stays without producing any fan noise. I’ve been testing them out for two weeks, and I have no complaints. 10/10 would recommend. - Let me know your thoughts! ··· ··· ··· ··· I said what I said… sorta. - The first DSLR that I’ve used was my girlfriend’s Nikon D3100. At the time, it was already quite an ancient tool to use for photography, but it was my intro to “professional” photography gear, and I loved it. When it was time to upgrade, and after spending months and months of research and talking to everyone and their auntie and uncle about camera gear, I decided to continue with my Nikon journey and got a D7200 AND I LOVED IT!!! - The Nikon D810 has then become my dream camera. The only reason why I didn’t snatch it was because, at the time, it was a few years old, and I had waited a bit too long for Nikon to release the D850. - Unfortunately, Sony at the time was doing what Sony does with mirrorless cameras, and I wasn’t down to wait for Nikon to release their mirrorless cameras, so I switched to Sony A7R3 and the rest is history. - THAT SAID, as a landscape photographer, as a sunset chaser, as a “purist” (whatever that means), I’ve yet to use a camera that produces organic, natural, absolute bang on colours like Nikon. Everyone praises Canon’s colours FOR SKIN TONES, but I’ve never been a portrait photographer so to me it was like Ok! Cool story, my guy. - THAT SAID (x2), I fully understand why one would compare Nikon to a potato. ··· ··· ··· ··· Be kind to your eyes. - Like many of you, I spend countless hours staring at my monitors, editing away the next “banger.” However, lately, I’ve been experiencing quite a bit of eye strain. At first, I thought it was the coffee, so I quit the coffee, but the eye twitches were still there. As I attempted to mansplain my issues to friends, almost all criticized my light setup - specifically how I have my desk lit up during my nighttime edits. - I looked around at some of my content creator mates’ desk setups, and almost all of them had monitor lightbars and swore that it was a game changer. Skeptical, I gave one a go, and MY GAWD! It’s like night and day! - I picked up the ScreenBar Halo from BENQ specifically because of its tech-driven eye comfort and real-time auto-dimming function. The wireless control is also mint. It sits minimally on my desk and allows me to control the brightness along with the light temperature. - If you’re also experiencing eye discomfort, look into getting a ScreenBar for your monitor. ··· ··· ··· ··· Saying goodbye to my trusted telephoto lens. - After upgrading to the new Sigma 70-200 F2.8, my good old and trusted Sony 70-200 F4 lens has been sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I, therefore, reckon it is about time to give my farewell and pass it on to another photographer who may enjoy it as much as I have. It'll be missed. I've taken this lens on countless adventures, and it stood up against some harsh weather conditions - from the wet and moist BC weather to the harsh freezing ON and QC winters. But before I say my farewell, I must first give it a long and overdue cleanup that it deserves. - Here's a tip when selling items on FB Marketplace (or anywhere really). Spend the extra time taking high-quality photographs of your products, as it'll stand out amongst similar products online which ultimately means more potential buyers will reach out. I know this may seem like an obvious tip, but I've seen some quite expensive items on sale with incredibly low-quality product shots taken of them. That of its own is enough to steer me away from it. 8:: DJI Mini 3 Pro Arm Repair

··· ··· ··· ··· I FINALLY DECIDED TO FIX MY DRONE. - A few months ago, I broke my DJI Mini 3 Pro. I ordered the replacement parts but haven’t had an opportunity to work on it. With some free time during the holiday break, I decided to tackle the task. - MY GAWD! I wish I hadn’t. Had it been the arm controller (mount), it would’ve been an easy 3-minute job. However, the front arm had cracked, so I had to take the ENTIRE drone apart - a task not for the faint-hearted. The difficulty was tracing the wires so I could “unplug” the old ones and “plug” the new ones in. - An hour in, I realized it wasn’t possible - at least not with my failed mechatronics engineering background. I instead decided to cut the wiring and simply solder it…. and it WORKED! If it weren’t for using @hoto_official electric screwdriver to disassemble and reassemble the drone, I probably would’ve given up on the repair. ··· ··· ··· ··· Here's a little IG social media campaign that I’ve created in collaboration with Heineken Canada to celebrate 150 years of Heineken. - Heineken Canada has kindly sent me 24 uniquely named bottles to celebrate all of the misspellings, pronunciations and nicknames that had been given to Heineken over the years. - The challenge was to create content to feature the iconic brew, whilst maintaining my social media branding… so I figured why not create an “unboxing-style video” of the package, incorporate my editing workflow AND showcase different scenarios that I’d enjoy the brew while still keeping the campaign concept (intentionally misspelling the brand in a hashtag). - This was the result. 10:: Unboxing Sigma 70-200 F2.8 E-Mount

··· ··· ··· ··· In 2019, I was fortunate enough to use the Sigma 70-200 F2.8 on my Sony A7R3. The only issue was that the lens was for Canon, so I had to use a Sigma MC-11 lens converter. Besides it adding to the size and weight of my setup and the autofocus wasn’t as mint, it still worked. But it didn’t feel right… you know? - Fast forward to now, December 2023, Sigma FINALLY releases the telephoto legendary beast FOR SONY E-MOUNT! When I tell you, I’ve never said yes to something as fast as I did with this lens. Many of you may know that I’m a Sigma fanatic. I only use their ART series prime lenses to shoot all of my content, BUT if I had to choose one lens as a daily driver, it would be the 70-200 F2.8. - They used to say, “once you go wide there’s no going back.” LIES! Whoever said that hasn’t tried shooting with a telephoto lens. It’s perfect for weddings, sports, urban, portraits, lifestyle, and landscape - so basically EVERYTHING! - As a landscape photographer, whenever I arrive at a scene, I’m always quick to mount my wide angle to capture that vast beauty of wherever I am… but then I ask myself, what am I looking at here? What’s ONE thing that’s capturing my attention - what stands out? That’s when I pull the telephoto lens and narrow the focus on that one (often many) subjects. Then, if I want to capture the WHOLE scene, I can just take multiple zoomed in shots and stitch them together later in post… WHICH MEANS YOU GET MORE MEGAPIXELS!! - I can go on and on about this, but I’ll stop before I cause you to also empty your bank account. Needless to say, I’m excited to start shooting more with this lens. ··· ··· ··· ··· Editing Session vs. Sound Design - Although, there are many similarities between all of the editing sessions I’ve worked on, each time, however, I tend to include a new action that usually involves the search for a new sound effect to go with it. - Here are the ones that stood out to me during the edit: 1. Metal hanger slides - used to amplify the plastic container sliding/moving on the metal rack at the start and end of the sequence. 2. A BEE SMOKER PUMP - I don’t want to even begin to describe the level of stress I went through to find a sound effect for using the lens duster, but the bee smoker pump worked miraculously. 3. ··· ··· ··· ··· The Archives - Toronto CN Tower Reflection. - My family has never been to Toronto, so for their (U.S.) Thanksgiving, we went to the 6ix for an urban retreat. - I’ve never lived in the 6ix though… and never will. HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED THEIR TRAFFIC? No, thank you. So since I’ve only ever been there as a photographer, their tour of Toronto was basically an urban photo walk of downtown Toronto… and BEFORE YOU HATE, yes, they checked out where Suits was filmed. - ANYWAY, like many urban jungles, Toronto is constantly evolving. With that, we’ve sadly said goodbye to some “hidden” viewpoint gems/classics. This is one of them. The reflection of the CN tower off the TD bank glass in the Financial District. - I shot this in 2018. I had the wrong lens to capture this beauty of a viewpoint, but at least I had 42MP to play around with in post. ··· ··· ··· ··· I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra as my primary tablet for a few months now, and I'm still impressed with the absolute power of this machine. - Editing video footage on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is an absolute gem. Powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra renders 4K real-time footage with absolutely no lag. The 14.6" Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is SO crispy, with so much real estate, it makes it incredibly pleasant to edit my timeline on... but perhaps my favourite upgrade over its predecessor is that the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is now IPS68 water-resistant which gives one a peace of mind for any "accidental" spills - Thanks to Samsung Canada for sending me the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra to test out, and I'm super excited to continue using it as my on-the-go editing tool. Every time I started an unboxing video, I would say this is the one where I would shoot a BTS alongside the actual unboxing video, but I never really got to it. - Fast forward some months go by and a bit of trial and error, and I FINALLY decided to shoot a BTS video alongside the product unboxing video… but I shelved it. - Another month went by, and I found my BTS while clearing my SD card. It was then I decided to continue shooting the concept. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that my desk setup changes, the time and dates aren’t consistent, and I only did an outfit change because IT GOT COLD! - I also dabbled more into sound design. I used more “swooshes” than I usually do. A part of me thinks it’s too much while another part thinks it’s just about right. - What do y’all think? Just when I think I’m all set and done, I discover a new tool / gear to add to my desk that’ll, supposedly, make my experience better. I mean… as content creators, we spend quite a bit of time sitting in this one area, so it has to function to best suite our needs, no? Idk. Maybe I’m just trying to justify the lack of funds in my bank account. - The latest addition to my desk setup has been the CT @loupedeck and the @steelseries Arena 7 speakers. - The loupedeck has quite the learning curve. I find myself having to rewire my motor behaviour and force myself to use it just so that I can get used to using it. It does, however, help out A LOT with my video editing workflow. BUT I wouldn’t recommend it to someone beginning their editing journey, as it only works once you’ve established an editing workflow process… if that makes any sense. - The Arena 7 speakers are a GAME CHANGER! I’ve been using my monitor’s speakers and/or headphones to edit my sound design, so I very much needed an upgrade. The speakers pack quite a bit of punch! They offer SO much base, that I have to turn it down to not disturb the neighbours. They also have RGB lights that add to the overall mood of my office space and can sync to my monitors to produce similar colours to that of what’s playing on my monitors. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT especially if you game! - Currently, I’m looking to change my tablet stand. I’m looking for something minimal that wouldn’t add to the space BECAUSE I’M RUNNING OUT OF SPACE! ··· ··· ··· ··· These are the world’s smallest LED COB lights. Where most LED COB lights require a wall plug-in, these can be powered by an external battery via USB-C and an external battery grip. The advantage is that you get a powerful light source without logging the extra weight in your bag. The most impressive (and my favourite) feature is the ability to mount different light modules including a Bowen Mount adapter.
