After completing my first symphonic poem in the fall of last year I made a decision to beginning sketching out a "sequel" of sorts. This excerpt really is just the introduction, but I expect to be finished with this piece before the Halloween of this year. I apologize for my lack of uploads this year. Work has been busy and I've been on the road a lot so practicing my instruments has been difficult. Not to worry though, I plan to keep working on music and uploading videos as much as I can. I wanted to write something pretty and more delicate after writing so many dark pieces last year. Being a great admirer of "The Lark Ascending" by Vaughn Williams , "Meditations" by Massenet, and Barber's violin concerto, I would say that this piece is greatly in their debt. I also drew influence from an electronic musician named Pogo, especially in the accompaniment. This piece is dedicated to my wife, her bridesmaids, and the wives of my groomsmen. I've recently decided to sell my sheet music as downloadable pdfs on Score Exchange. At the time of this upload I have about 25 pieces for sale (although I do not have this concertino for sale yet). I've been thinking about writing music for video games or films so this is the result of me mulling things over for the past few weeks. Let me know what you think in the comments. I've recently decided to sell my sheet music on Score Exchange. At the time of this upload I have about 22 pieces for sale. Not to worry, I've been writing and performing a few etudes for banjo the past few weeks. I should have some videos of them shortly after New Years. After I finished my "Little Concerto for Alto Saxophone", I wanted to write something even more jazzy and less emotional. The title of this piece comes from the fact that left hand piano part is based around the "Ode to Joy" melody by Ludwig van Beethoven. There is also a hidden variation of a famous melody that plays throughout the piece. I'm curious to see if someone can pick out where its from. I've also recently created an account on ScoreExchange.com where you can purchase copies of my original compositions. This will replace my Etsy store come the new year. Right now I only have 15 compositions available purchase, most of which being solos for violoncello and glockenspiel, but I plan on uploading more every day. I will post the link to my page below: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 I appreciate everyone's support and patience over the holidays. I apologize for not uploading any performances. I hope this video suffices until I have some free time closer to Christmas./media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="6" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="40"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:IaRAchJWAWQ/id> yt:videoId>IaRAchJWAWQ/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/yt:channelId> title>Excerpt from an original composition with shruti box accompaniment #cello #shruti/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaRAchJWAWQ"/> author> name>Hergest the Red/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/uri> /author> published>2023-11-26T17:14:03+00:00/published> updated>2024-03-13T04:42:03+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>Excerpt from an original composition with shruti box accompaniment #cello #shruti/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/IaRAchJWAWQ?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i2.ytimg.com/vi/IaRAchJWAWQ/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>/media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="11" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="119"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:uSb7rH4ZhTw/id> yt:videoId>uSb7rH4ZhTw/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/yt:channelId> title>Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 arranged for bowed psaltery #tchaikovsky/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSb7rH4ZhTw"/> author> name>Hergest the Red/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/uri> /author> published>2023-11-26T02:32:30+00:00/published> updated>2024-04-25T05:59:00+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 arranged for bowed psaltery #tchaikovsky/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/uSb7rH4ZhTw?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i2.ytimg.com/vi/uSb7rH4ZhTw/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>I transposed this excerpt into G major./media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="5" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="76"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:8Ptaatwp-z8/id> yt:videoId>8Ptaatwp-z8/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/yt:channelId> title>Cello Bowed Psaltery with Shruti Box demo #bowedpsaltery #shrutibox/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ptaatwp-z8"/> author> name>Hergest the Red/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHBZJrovxsu20aQlvAKYKQg/uri> /author> published>2023-11-25T03:09:22+00:00/published> updated>2024-04-25T10:48:10+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>Cello Bowed Psaltery with Shruti Box demo #bowedpsaltery #shrutibox/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/8Ptaatwp-z8?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i1.ytimg.com/vi/8Ptaatwp-z8/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>the cello bowed psaltery was built by Terry Kirby of Spring Creek Psalteries. 01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 18.03.2024 · 17:11:33 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This is a large piece for full orchestra that I've been writing since the beginning of the year. Below is a link to my Score Exchange profile where you can purchase downloadable pdfs of many of my compositions: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 Here is a link to a fellow compser/musician that I frequently collaborate, please consider checking out his bandcamp and YouTube channel: https://viperman.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@user-up1th4yu1i

··· ··· ··· ··· This is my first of a series of melody studies that I wrote for banjo in the fall of 2021. 3:: Solo for Piano, "Gordon" by Hergest the Red

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 12.02.2024 · 22:55:52 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· 2nd Movement 1:20 This is an older piece that I wrote back in 2021. I don't consider it my best but I thought it was worth uploading. It is composed of two movements, the second being a variation of the first. I dedicate this piece to my grandmother. Although I do not have the sheet music to this for sale currently (as of 2/12/24), you can purchase downloadable pdfs of my many other compositions at Score Exchange: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 Below is a link to a fellow musician/composer and frequent collaborator's bandcamp who goes by the name of Viperman: https://viperman.bandcamp.com/music Painting: "The Traveler" by Jeffrey Smart, 1973

4:: Concertino for Violin by Hergest the Red

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 04.01.2024 · 04:49:08 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This is my first major piece since finishing my symphonic poem "Algernon" back in September of 2023. Here is a link to my profile: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 Lastly here is a link to a fellow composer that I'm currently working on an album with: https://viperman.bandcamp.com Painting: "Portrait of a Young Girl" by Rembrandt, 1645

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 30.12.2023 · 14:43:21 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This was a piece I wrote back in early February of this year. Previously I uploaded a scrolling score of this piece but I felt like reupload was due. I am selling the sheet music of this piece on my Score Exchange profile. I've recently decided to sell my sheet music as downloadable pdfs on Score Exchange. At the time of this upload I have about 22 pieces for sale. Here is a link to my profile: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 Lastly here is a link to a fellow composer that I'm currently working on an album with: https://viperman.bandcamp.com Painting: "Cretaceous Life of New Jersey" by Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins, 1877

6:: Quintet for Mixed Ensemble, Mvt. II by Hergest the Red

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 30.12.2023 · 01:23:08 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This is the second movement to a quintet that I'm writing for mixed ensemble. As I said on my previous upload, this is my first serious attempt at writing something that could work as background music in a film or video game. I've recently decided to sell my sheet music as downloadable pdfs on Score Exchange. At the time of this upload I have about 22 pieces for sale. Here is a link to my profile: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 I'm dedicating this piece to a fellow musician and frequent collaborator Viperman. 7:: Quintet for Mixed Ensemble, Mvt. I by Hergest the Red

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 29.12.2023 · 03:41:31 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· I wrote this in just a day. I've been thinking about writing music for video games or films so this is the result of me mulling things over for the past few weeks. Let me know what you think in the comments. I've recently decided to sell my sheet music on Score Exchange. At the time of this upload I have about 22 pieces for sale. Here is a link to my profile: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/246993 I'm dedicating this piece to a fellow musician and frequent collaborator Viperman. Here is a link to his bandcamp: https://viperman.bandcamp.com/music One last thing, I know its been a while since I've uploaded videos of me playing instruments (which is what most of you like to see). Not to worry, I've been writing and performing a few etudes for banjo the past few weeks. I should have some videos of them shortly after New Years. 8:: "Ludwig's Waltz" by Hergest the Red

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 08.12.2023 · 22:29:31 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This is an experimental piece that I wrote for tenor saxophone, tambourine, double bass, and piano. I hope this video suffices until I have some free time closer to Christmas.

The second movement is nearly done, so I expect to upload that by the first week of July. Once I complete it I will upload the entire piece as another YouTube video. 17:: Untitled Dark Atmospheric Piece

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 24.06.2023 · 21:58:50 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· This is a piece I made with my cousin/friend in 2021 back when I lived with him for a while. I don't know much about making electronic music but he had all the right equipment to make this piece happen. I know I've been uploading a lot of things that are inconsistent with my usual work, but I'm doing this as more of an archive of some of my older projects and experiments. I do not plan on making more electronic music than this for the foreseeable future.
