Will wasn't pleased with the relatively under the radar approach West Ham gave to his send off but it was still nice to see close to a full stadium stay behind after the game to give him some love. That was the least he deserved after the unbelievable journey he's taken us on over the last four years.
Also this week, we discuss the win over Luton, George Earthy's first West Ham goal for the club and the part West Ham could play in the title race, which is likely to be absolutely no part at all as we inevitably get thrashed 6-0.

media:description>It's generally accepted that David Moyes is nearing the end of what has been a wonderful four year tenure as manager of West Ham. But whoever his replacement is, how much time will he be given to rebuild?
As one era ends, another begins, but this new era will have to begin with a whole rebuild of the squad and a new tactical philosophy coached into them. It will take time, arguably longer than a single season, and will likely need at least 3-4 transfer windows for the new manager to bring in the right players to be effective in implementing his footprint on the club. But will he get that long? Will the fans be patient enough? What signs will need to be there for fans to sit tight and accept it needs time, not more change at the first sign of trouble?
The last thing the club needs is a run of constantly changing the manager until one comes in, hits the ground running and provides immediate success. The likelihood is it won't happen like that. We're probably looking at a transitional season where we finish between 10th-13th, before signs of real progress kick in. But will fans accept that after the previous four years of success, delivered to them by the very manager many of them want to see the back of?

In the space of just a few days our wonderful club came to within minutes of becoming the first team to beat Bayer Leverkusen this season, after putting in one of the best performances in the modern era, and then put in one of the worst performances in the modern era by losing 5-2 to Crystal Palace, having been 4-0 down after just 31 minutes.
As a result of being knocked out of the Europa League and losing so heavily at Selhurst Park, it's looking more and more likely that Moyes will leave the club once the season is over. Although no official confirmation has been made yet, we're already hearing reports of meetings with potential replacements being had, including Liverpool target Ruben Amorim and former Real Madrid, Sevilla and Wolves boss, Julen Lopetegui.
So this week, the lads talk through why Moyes' time is likely up, who they think should replace them and give their thoughts on the very chalk and cheese performances against Leverkusen and Crystal Palace.

Despite defending admirably for 85 minutes in the first-leg, Leverkusen's two late goals means we have a huge mountain to climb on Thursday if we're going to secure a place in the Europa League semI-final.
Kevin said last week that Leverkusen were going to beat the crap out of West Ham in the first-leg and he was pretty much correct in his prediction. While it wasn't a thrashing by any means, their 33 shots to our one says all you need to know about how the game played out. A repeat cannot happen this week and Kevin has urged David Moyes and West Ham to be braver in their attempts to become the first team to beat Xabi Alonso's side in any competition this season, after he was surprised at our lack of effort in trying to score a goal in the first-leg.
Once again, this is a great chat with Kevin, who has been a superb guest on the podcast over the last week.

But what has led to this after such a strong start to the season? It's a very similar situation to two years ago when a failure to invest in January led to the team running out of steam. It appears David Moyes and the club haven't learned their lesson, with a lack of options on the bench in recent weeks appearing to cost us.
And what does this all mean for David Moyes' future? It's hard to see how he remains in the job beyond the summer.

If ever there was a need for peak Moyes-ball, which we all know has come under intense scrutiny this season, it's now.
Will is heading out to Leverkusen and will hopefully be getting an Oppo View before the big game. In the meantime, you've got James and Will reacting to the Wolves game this week and, at the very beginning, James being attacked by his wife and son with Nerf guns!

The sun was out, we won and most of the fans inside the London Stadium stayed around to give David Moyes heaps of appreciation before he departs at the end of the campaign.
Will wasn't pleased with the relatively under the radar approach West Ham gave to his send off but it was still nice to see close to a full stadium stay behind after the game to give him some love. That was the least he deserved after the unbelievable journey he's taken us on over the last four years.
Also this week, we discuss the win over Luton, George Earthy's first West Ham goal for the club and the part West Ham could play in the title race, which is likely to be absolutely no part at all as we inevitably get thrashed 6-0.

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 30.04.2024 · 16:30:02 ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· It's generally accepted that David Moyes is nearing the end of what has been a wonderful four year tenure as manager of West Ham. But whoever his replacement is, how much time will he be given to rebuild?
As one era ends, another begins, but this new era will have to begin with a whole rebuild of the squad and a new tactical philosophy coached into them. It will take time, arguably longer than a single season, and will likely need at least 3-4 transfer windows for the new manager to bring in the right players to be effective in implementing his footprint on the club. But will he get that long? Will the fans be patient enough? What signs will need to be there for fans to sit tight and accept it needs time, not more change at the first sign of trouble?
The last thing the club needs is a run of constantly changing the manager until one comes in, hits the ground running and provides immediate success. The likelihood is it won't happen like that. We're probably looking at a transitional season where we finish between 10th-13th, before signs of real progress kick in. But will fans accept that after the previous four years of success, delivered to them by the very manager many of them want to see the back of?

As a result of being knocked out of the Europa League and losing so heavily at Selhurst Park, it's looking more and more likely that Moyes will leave the club once the season is over. Despite defending admirably for 85 minutes in the first-leg, Leverkusen's two late goals means we have a huge mountain to climb on Thursday if we're going to secure a place in the Europa League semI-final.
Kevin said last week that Leverkusen were going to beat the crap out of West Ham in the first-leg and he was pretty much correct in his prediction. While it wasn't a thrashing by any means, their 33 shots to our one says all you need to know about how the game played out. A repeat cannot happen this week and Kevin has urged David Moyes and West Ham to be braver in their attempts to become the first team to beat Xabi Alonso's side in any competition this season, after he was surprised at our lack of effort in trying to score a goal in the first-leg.
Once again, this is a great chat with Kevin, who has been a superb guest on the podcast over the last week.

We have a mountain to climb in the second-leg vs. the newly crowned Bundesliga champions and failure to beat Fulham at home means we're now reliant on the likes of Newcastle, Man United and Chelsea all slipping up in the race for a top-seven finish. If they don't it'll likely be a 9th placed finish and the end of our love affair with European competition.
But what has led to this after such a strong start to the season? It's a very similar situation to two years ago when a failure to invest in January led to the team running out of steam. It appears David Moyes and the club haven't learned their lesson, with a lack of options on the bench in recent weeks appearing to cost us.
And what does this all mean for David Moyes' future? It's hard to see how he remains in the job beyond the summer.

This time, we were on the right end of it and it was Wolves fans crying scandal. However, this decision WAS correct and Max Kilman's goal WAS rightly ruled out for offside. No scandal this week. Nothing to see here, Wolves fans.
It was a huge win and keeps us well in the hunt for another year of European football by virtue of our league position. It was also the perfect result to take into what is without doubt our biggest game of the season so far. We travel to Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday to try and be the first team in 42 games to beat Xabi Alonso's side. If ever there was a need for peak Moyes-ball, which we all know has come under intense scrutiny this season, it's now.
Will is heading out to Leverkusen and will hopefully be getting an Oppo View before the big game. In the meantime, you've got James and Will reacting to the Wolves game this week and, at the very beginning, James being attacked by his wife and son with Nerf guns!

A club-record 5-0 victory over Freiburg in the Europa League set up a third consecutive European semi-final, before a hugely controversial 1-1 draw with high-flying Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The controversy was, as always, sparked by VAR and its failure to exercise its own 'Clear and Obvious' guidelines. The second disallowed goal was indeed handball, but the first? There is no conclusive evidence that the ball hit Michail Antonio's hand, so the onfield decision should've stood. Instead, VAR failed to do its job and ruled out the goal on what appears to be a hunch. Clear and obvious? Yeah, right.
This week we discuss both of last week's games before the international break, and also go over the quarter-final draw against the unbeatable Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

But all that confidence was removed instantly when the starting XI was announced, with David Moyes making a number of changes to his starting XI. Clearly he has one eye on Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester United. The performance that followed complimented the line-up. Poor, weak and no up to standard. It was no wonder we were thrashed 5-1.
And it raises the question: has David Moyes' squad management been good enough this season? The likes of Ben Johnson, Thilo Kehrer and Pablo Fornals were all regular starters this season but have mostly been given sporadic appearances from the bench in 23/24. Johnson, for example, made only his third appearance of the campaign against Liverpool, and he was played out of position. How is he expected to put in a top-quality performance against Liverpool at Anfield with so few minutes under his belt?
So this week, James and Will debate the above in detail. Will refutes James' claims that Moyes' squad management, and inability to build a squad with strong depth, is costing us in games when first-team players need to be rested. Will, instead, believes it's just a case of the fringe players not being good enough anymore. What do you think?

Whatsmore, it was ensure a third consecutive season as Group Stage winners and further establishing the club as a strong European outfit.
However, given the current level of performance and last weekend's 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Fulham, there isn't a great deal of confidence that we'll get the job done.
SC Freiburg, on the other hand, need to win to be group winners but have already secured their place in the Europa League knockout stages.
There is a lot riding on this one. A season with European football means having to navigate a busy fixture schedule, so winning the group and avoiding two play-off fixtures in February could is important to ensuring we keep the squad fresh and ready for the last 16 AND the latter stages of our domestic season.

Under Ange Postecoglu, Spurs are very attacking, almost gung-ho, while we're ultra-defensive for much of the time and appear to struggle in the final third when attacking. It certainly makes for an interesting match-up, but it also represents the potential of a goal-fest.

So despite going unbeaten, fans are beginning to get more and more restless with David Moyes' approach. That led to James and Will having a very long and intense debate about his future at the club. James understands why fans are getting frustrated and are pushing for a change. Will, on the other hand, believes changing managers risks us dropping back into security and doesn't think we can do any better than Moyes right now.

For the first 85 minutes of the game it was so obvious that the decision was very wrong, and it was underlined, bolded and italicised when Mubama threw himself at a near-post Kudus cross and forced Dara O'Shea to divert the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Soucek's second constructive late winner ensure we came away with all three points.
But surely now, it's Mubama who starts games up front while Michail Antonio is sidelined through injury? It has to be the way forward for Moyes' approach. Unfortunately, we can't be so sure.

West Ham United have ended their 43-year wait for major silverware and are now the proud holders of a European title following the 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in Prague on Wednesday night.
It was arguably the best possible way to win a final - Jarrod Bowen's 93rd-minute goal right in front of the passionate West Ham faithful will live long in the memory of every single fan who was lucky enough to witness it. Tears. Joy. Elation. Relief. Euphoria. Every single emotion burst out of the fans, players and coaching staff on the final whistle as European glory was secured.
It was the most incredible experience and achievement and one we'll never forget. West Ham United are European champions. Just let that sink in.
James and Will were there and met up in the middle of Prague the day after to record this episode. And they even managed to grab a quick word with Chesney Hawkes, who just happened to be walking past while we were recording.

It would take a pretty crazy combination of results to see us go down now, but you just never know these days.
Visiting Stratford this weekend is Leeds United, who simply need to win if they're going to have any chance of staying in the top-flight. Anything other than a win could spell disaster for them, while there might still be some sore heads in the squad after Thursday's celebrations.

After last Thursday's 2-1 first-leg semi-final victory over AZ Alkmaar, West Ham only have to avoid defeat this week to book their place in the Europa Conference League final in Prague. It will be our first major final since 2006 and a chance to end 43 years of hurt since lifting the FA Cup in 1980.
As a result of all of that, the Premier League has become somewhat irrelevant, evident in David Moyes' team selection in the 2-0 defeat at Brentford on Sunday. We're all but safe from relegation, so full focus simply must go on ensuring we make the Conference League final now.
If we do it, it'll be party time on the streets of East London. West Ham. A European Final. In Prague. What a cocktail of events that would be!
