The Surpassing Value of Knowing Christ

Knowing Christ and following him is far more important than personal achievements in life.
Our reading starts with Apostle Paul briefly recounting his impressive religious background as a Pharisee and a zealous Jew, then immediately emphasizing that all his accomplishments and religious credentials were worthless compared to knowing Christ. He proceeded to express that his desire was to gain Christ and be found in Christ through faith and that knowledge of Christ is of supreme value. Paul encouraged believers to press on toward maturity in their faith, forgetting the past and focusing on the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. He also spoke of the hope of the resurrection and the transformation of our bodies to be like Christ's glorious body. In essence, Paul's message emphasized the surpassing value of knowing Christ, the futility of relying on external achievements, the pursuit of spiritual maturity, and the hope of the resurrection, urging believers to strive toward the goal of being conformed to the image of Christ.
