This hymn emphasizes the benefits that come to us through the Sacrifice of Christ. It reminds us of what Jesus did in order for a fountain to be opened for sin and uncleanliness.
The first stanza encompasses Hope, and this hope is based on the fact that while we yet sinners, Christ died for us. Stanzas two and three talk about cleansing and washing respectively which is the central theme of the Hymn; THE PERFECT PURIFICATION.
The 4th Stanza talks about Christ atoning for us with His blood till our faith and hope bear fruits and all our souls are but love - thus till when the Lord shall come again.
