It has been noted in 16 studies that FULL range of motion is better than partial reps for muscle strength and lower body hypertrophy.

What is the benefit of full range of motion? A 2023 meta-analysis noted that long-length partial reps may be beneficial for muscle hypertrophy.

Subgroup analyzes suggested there may be a muscle hypertrophy benefit to partial ROM training at long muscle lengths compared to using a full ROM (–0.28; 95% CI: –0.81, 0.16)

Keyword is - Long Length Partials.

That is, the position in which your muscles lengthen/stretch is our partial reps. So it will look like this in Lat pull down, and it will look like this in bench press.
So by doing partial reps you have to make sure that you are performing full eccentric.
