Alessandro Appignani - Viola Concerto (2005 rev 2021) -
This is a recording made in May 2021 in the church of San Bernardino in Abbiategrasso ( home of the orchestra of the Accademia dell'Annunciata ).
The performers are: Eivind Ringstad - viola -
Orchestra of the Accademia dell’Annunciata conducted by Maestro Riccardo Doni.
Sound engineer: Fabio Framba.
Film Maker: Gian Maria Musarra.
For this recording we used a 432 Hz tuning.
The viola soloist is a wonderful instrument of the luthier Giovan Battista Guadagnini of 1768, kindly on loan from Dextra Musica.
In the recording the viola has kept the modern strings covered in metal while the strings of the ensemble are composed of gut strings.
Staff: string orchestra - 5,4,3,2,2, - + timpani + harpsichord and lute.
The concert is in three movements, I SAKURA, II Celvm STELLATVM, III CAERIMONIALIS.
I SAKURA - In the Japanese language they are the wonderful cherry blossoms, so they represent spring in all its splendor.
II CELVM STELLATVM - A star dance, a tribute to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy where the stars illuminate us and guide us on our path.
III CAERIMONIALIS - This is the musical description of a magical ritual.
