Samura Kamara, the All People's Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has requested the resignations of the Chief Electoral Commissioner and all regional Commissioners. At a press conference held today, Wednesday, June 14, at the Brookfield Hotel in Freetown, Kamara made this demand.
Says Dr. Samura "To conduct a free and fair election, Mr. Mohamed Konneh and all other ECSL Commissioners should step down and be replaced by an electoral body that has received international accreditation. And this request has a deadline. It must be finished in 72 hours. According to Dr. Samura, it is clear from the activities of the Sierra Leonean election commission that they are concealing something else.
He said that the security forces in the South East had subjected his supporters to harassment, molestation, embarrassment, and cruelty during their campaign. He also criticizes the printing of the voter identification cards, claiming that 90% of them were poorly produced.
He described the printing of the voter ID card as an injustice to the people of Sierra Leone, and yet still no one has been brought to book. Additionally, he disclosed that Mr. Mohamed Konneh is a prominent SLPP member who has been extremely biased during the election, and that his actions are a blatant example of election manipulation. He has demonstrated to the public that he is unqualified for the position, and such individuals are unfit to assume positions of trust.
