There is no better protection or strength than coming from the Lord. In this psalm, we are encouraged to trust in Him and to seek His protection and strength in all of our struggles. We are reminded that He is our refuge and strength, and that we can always count on Him. Let this psalm be a reminder of your faith in God and a source of strength in your difficult times.
Dear God,
We come to you today with grateful hearts, knowing that you are our shelter and our fortress, our refuge and our strength. We thank you for the promises of Psalm 91, which assure us of your protection and provision in times of trouble and uncertainty.
We confess that sometimes we forget or doubt your presence and your power, especially when we face trials and temptations that seem overwhelming or unfair. We may feel alone, afraid, or angry, and we may question your goodness or your love. But we know that you are always with us, even when we don't feel it or understand it, and that your ways are higher than our ways, and your thoughts than our thoughts.
So we ask you to help us to dwell in your shelter and to abide in your shadow, to trust in your name and to seek your face. We pray that you would deliver us from the snares of the enemy and from the deadly pestilences that threaten our health and our peace. We ask you to cover us with your pinions, and to hide us under your wings, so that we may find comfort and rest in your presence.
We also pray for those who are suffering or struggling in various ways, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually. We lift up to you the sick and the wounded, the grieving and the lonely, the oppressed and the persecuted. We ask you to heal their bodies, to comfort their hearts, and to strengthen their faith. We pray that you would use us as your hands and feet, to serve and to love them as you would.
We thank you for the promise that no evil shall befall us, and no plague come near our dwelling, because we have made you our dwelling place. We ask you to keep us safe and secure, not only from physical harm but also from spiritual attacks and temptations. We pray that you would give us discernment and wisdom, so that we may avoid the snares of the devil and the traps of the world.
We also ask you to send your angels to guard us in all our ways, to bear us up on their hands, and to protect us from stumbling or falling. We pray that you would give us courage and faith, so that we may walk in your paths and fulfill your purposes for our lives.
Finally, we thank you for the promise of salvation, which you have shown us through your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that you would help us to hold fast to him in love, to trust in his name, and to follow his example of humility and obedience. We ask you to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, so that we may be holy and blameless before you.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray:
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Amen.
