Elon Musk Just LEAKED NASA’s Plans To Melt The Moon!
SpaceX is playing a crucial part in the endeavor, which is getting NASA closer to its goal of visiting the moon again after 50 years. It will be determined whether NASA's Artemis moon program is on track for success by the Starship's highly anticipated success. However, the tech billionaire just leaked NASA’s plans to melt the Moon. NASA gave SpaceX a $2.9 billion contract in 2021 to deploy Starship in order to assist NASA in making the first lunar landing since 1972. In November of last year, Starship also obtained a contract to take part in the Artemis IV mission.
According to Brendan Rosseau, a teaching fellow of space economy at Harvard Business School, it won't just be a test of the company's flagship spacecraft; it will also be a crucial test of NASA's risk to include private actors in the center of their development process.
"The Starship plans and all these other different components are woven into Artemis," he said in a report.
In order to land on the moon, NASA's SLS depends on Starship.
NASA's rockets won't carry men all the way to the moon, in contrast to the Apollo missions.
A Starship that will launch separately will serve as the mission's lunar lander while NASA's Orion spacecraft, which is mounted to the top of its new Space Launch System, or SLS, will carry the crew to the moon's orbit.
According to Space.com, when the mission is complete, Starship will return the crew to Orion on their journey back to Earth before they leave Starship in lunar orbit.
That indicates that NASA intends for a SpaceX-built rocket, which the agency contracted, to be the vehicle for landing boots on the moon for the first time ever since 1972.
According to Rosseau, "Starship is now a critical part of your infrastructure, so if you're Bill Nelson, NASA's administrator, you're really looking closely at the test launches of Starship."
When Nelson inquired about how Musk's purchase of Twitter might impact SpaceX's goal with NASA, Gwynne Shotwell, the president of the firm, it was clear how Starship was important to NASA, according to NBC. Shotwell reassured him, saying he had "nothing to worry about."
SpaceX has been chosen by NASA to build the lander for Artemis IV, expanding NASA's investment by a further $1.2 billion to develop a technology for the rocket to dock at NASA's envisaged lunar Gateway. NASA's support of SpaceX doesn't stop with Artemis III. The agency has designated SpaceX to design the lander for Artemis IV.
Rosseau said: "Obviously, that is really astounding, considering that we haven't even done a full orbital flight test of the system. I think it shows NASA's trust in SpaceX's ability to get Starship up and operating by then.
According to Rosseau, NASA's big plan to include commercial players at the center of its next missions includes the success of SpaceX.
NASA's approach to its development program was altered after the shuttle program came to an end in 2011.
