Putin meets Russian top brass at Rostov war HQ

The Telegraph Vladimir Putin paid a surprise overnight visit to Russia’s military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don overseeing the war in Ukraine, the Kremlin said on Friday.
It is his second visit to the southern post in under a month. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former Wagner mercenary chief, began a failed mutiny from the city in June.
Putin was accompanied by Sergei Shoigu, the Russian defence minister, and Valery Gerasimov, the commander of military operations in Ukraine, the Kremlin said.
It added that Putin was shown new military equipment and briefed on the war.
