Stroking. Geoffrey introduces us to Jasmine the cat and explains what stroking an animal means. Some children do similar at a farm, and then George, Zippy and Bungle don their blindfolds and play a game of identifying object using touch alone. This episode was originally broadcast on Wednesday, 29th April, 1981, but I gather that this is a repeat showing from 1983 (or later) - thanks to CaptainSiCo in the comments.
I've absolutely no doubt that someone somewhere is going to edit some of the main cast's dialogue into something that will give that infamous Twangers skit a run for its money, but there's plenty to talk about otherwise. Most obviously, this is before Freddy joined Rod and Jane, so Roger Walker helps make up the musical trio. Plus, this is the era where they had all those Cosgrove Hall animations, which I think added a great deal to proceedings. It's interesting that we're never in the house for this one, but it's all studio work anyway. A few more furry creatures make an appearance, and then Tom Mennard reads us the story of Colin and Mortimer Mole. All good, gentle fun.
There's a little bit of Thames continuity at the beginning (indicating that this is a lunchtime showing), and apologies for having to snip out the opening titles. Needs must.
