When it comes to naming living legends in the Philippine showbiz industry, it is no surprise to have John Arcilla included in the list.
In becoming a legend, of course, John underwent trials and tribulations that tested his willpower as an artist and individual. One instance would be attending commercial VTRs in secret, given the exclusivity of his former theater group; then when John experienced the taste of glory in his first successes, his demons and public scrutiny almost got the best of him.
Only in overcoming the bumps did John become the lauded veteran actor we know today that brought pride to the country as the first Filipino Volpi Cup award winner at the Venice Film Festival for “On the Job: The Missing 8” (directed by Erik Matti) and the actor to play the iconic Heneral Luna (“Heneral Luna”, 2015 directed by Jerrold Tarog).
